Tinordi to the DogsApparently Mike Weaver's virus that kept him out of Wednesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres was nothing serious, because this morning Jarred Tinordi has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL temporarily. In all likelihood, this is the same situation for Tinordi as it was for Nathan Beaulieu and Michael Bournival when they were sent down, and he already knows that he'll be back up in Montreal by next weeks. Tinordi has had a fantastic start to the season, but his last few games he has been struggling quite a bit, and Beaulieu has taken over the sixth defenseman spot with some fantastic performances, including leading all Canadiens defensemen in possession two of the past three games. Tinordi will likely play in a back-to-back set for the Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday against the Adirondack Flames in Hamilton, logging big minutes. It's unknown as of yet whether the Canadiens will call up a forward due to the injury to Michael Bournival, but considering Rene Bourque and Travis Moen are available, it isn't expected.

I would be interesting in seeing what the stats are like for D men who play with Gilbert.

I don't fully understand these new stats but I would hardly call Beaulieu's performance "fantastic". People that embrace these numbers seem to look at the stats & nothing else.

IMO, Beau's performance was no better or worse than JTs from what I have seen. The numbers say Gilbert is fantastic, but he always seems to be on the ice when the other team has us pinned in our own zone.

Saves a few more dollars against the cap too, assuming they don't call somebody up to replace Bournival.

They're putting a lot of effort and travel dollars into saving some CAP space (and giving their young D some extra playing time). It's not like we're starved for CAP space, though. Odd. Might be nice if we're looking at picking up someone like E. Kane. I can dream.

I would be interesting in seeing what the stats are like for D men who play with Gilbert. What stats? Of the seven best defensive pairings on the Habs for less goals against per 60 mins , Gilbert is on FIVE of them.

So, in other words, Gilbert looks like he's struggling, but gets results?

At this point in the season I'm more sold on Tinordi that I am on Beaulieu. I think Tinordi gives this team more of what it needs (size, toughness) and he has show some surprising ability to handle the puck. Nathan has the higher offensive ceiling but I feel he's further away than Tinordi.
Whatever. This team needs to score goals.

Great! Now we have to rely on Moen and Prust if the going gets tough. I have to agree that Tinordi didn't push his weight around much in the last six games but it's not a good thing to catch penalties when your team barely scores a goal per game. I really hate this team.

With him in the line-up I didn't see much in the way of intimidation tactics either. He's a deterrent. I know I feel a lot more comfortable from that standpoint with him in the line-up than without. And he was playing a responsible game. At least that's the way I saw it.

Whatever. This team needs to score goals. I'm hoping Bourque sits out a few more games ... not so much because he deserves it, but a longer benching might be what he needs to bring that playoff game back ... he's one extreme or the other ... when he's off his game he can be awful ... when he's in a groove he's all about the big play ... let him stew a bit more in the press box ... give Sekac a few games and see what happens ... I've mentioned it several times, but what does Therrien have to lose by reuniting the GEG line? ... what would Galchenyuk/Eller/Gallagher do to the remaining lines? ... I mean, why not? ... we're not scoring with the way things are now ... Cheers.
