Andrighetto with three points in three games with Montreal ... Sekac is in my pool ... Price was awesome ... that's two western contenders that the Habs have beaten in a short time ...
Cheers.

Elected not to watch the game, because I feared the worst. Looks like the score was really flattering in our favour, considering we've gone back to our "rely on goaltending to win hockey games" strategy.
20 shots for? On any other night, we only have 1 goal or less on that shot total.

Nice to get a win vs. the defending champs. Thanks again to all posters who kept the updates coming.
Perhaps our scoring will stick around for a while.

This is a bitter sweet result. Glad we won because I hate Justin Williams but very displeased with our play overall. Once again, take away Carey and we lose miserably. That's a Leaf result. I want to win because we beat the Kings in every department. We outfaceoffed them today and that's all. They got more shots more hits more takeaways and fewer giveaways. Overall satisfied but far from happy.

I'd like to think we took advantage of our chances too ... we lost a lot of games in the past because we simply couldn't finish ... those were good goals tonight ... I'm really hoping Therrien leaves those lines in tact for a while ... need some better play in our own end ... wouldn't want to burn Price out before the playoffs ... Cheers.

Yes, the shots against and other analytics are not acceptable, and with Quick in net instead of Jones, this score is reversed on most nights. Our coaching staff can't take too much encouragement, despite the win.

Ghetto keeps his NHL long career scoring streak going.
Sekac pops two, including a really nice lone effort for his second.
Price the MVP again.
We have made young goalies look like Vezina winners more often than not, but not tonight.

Despite their good start I wouldn't put the Canucks in the same category as the Kings. I'b like to see the Habs put down the Ducks.

I pvr'd the game after following via updates and now have watched in full. Knowing the shot total before i started I expected to see a much more one-sided game.I think the shot total flattered the Kings although Price wAs outstanding on several occasions. Habs were skating hard, were quick and were good on the forecheck which created some good scoring chances. About half the Kings shots were also on the PP. Perfect game it wasn't but I appreciated the hard skating for a change. Solid win in my opinion

Score flatters the Habs, but not as much as you'd think based on the shot count. After all, the Habs took the lead fairly early so for much of the game, it was LA pressing and getting a lot shots, sometimes very good shots, but not that many strong scoring opportunities, most shots being from a certain distance and without much of a screen.
The Habs got some glorious scoring opportunities out of the Kings overpressing, and managed to get the game out of reach.
Andrighetto will soon be a problem: what happens to him when Eller's back ? He's not a 4th line kind of guy, but he's also not AHL material anymore. But at his size... we don't need more small guys. But I wonder if the small guys to get moved might not be DD or Parenteau.
I'm starting to really dislike Parenteau and Gilbert.

Sekac was a great signing...talent plus decent size. I've loved this guy since the moment I saw him this season as my posts have indicated. I think we're just starting to see what he's capable of. He has all the attributes (size which he uses, speed, skill, effort, IQ, and seems to be a team player) and no warts I can see. Wondering what his contractual status is given he's come from playing in Europe. Is he eligible for FA status earlier than others. If so I really think MB should lock him up long term as he is a real find and i don't think one needs to be an NHL scout (whatever they are worth) to see this guys potential. He's a keeper (top six for sure and probably top line) and should not be allowed to get away.

I'm starting to really dislike Parenteau and Gilbert. I think Berg needs to trust his own depth more. I'm not really liking the Parenteau deal anymore. It was the price to be to get Briere off the books but right now I'd rather have Briere on the team and sitting in the press box with his contract expiring at the end of the year than having Parenteau with another year after this one. He just doesn't really add much to the team and with guys like Bournival, Sekac, Andrighetto we have better options on the wing. Gilbert is paid to be a 3rd pair guy so I don't really have a problem with the signing. But I do think there is a tendency in the summer to reach for established veterans even if you have young kids to fill those roles because it gives management more comfort. That was why Berg signed Briere in the first place and as much as I hated that signing, I kind of wish we hadn't dealt him for Parenteau.

I'm relieved to know we have a little more time to evaluate although i am certain he will not disappoint. If anything he will cost us more by the end of next season.

PAP has not been very good, but he's a guy you can move imo. Even if it's for peanuts, there will be a taker out there if he's put on the market.

I must be the only one that likes what Parenteau has been bringing to the team ....
Last night I thought he was really good. He was hustling both ends of the ice, and was strong on the puck. There are maybe two other guys on the team that could make that beauty saucer pass to Desharnais. And speaking of Desharnais, it's Parenteau that allows us to have DD as the third line Center, unless we want DD to just not produce at all. Parenteau may not be win any scoring titles, but the entire team is under-performing offensively, and he has brought more to team than I ever thought he would.

I must be the only one that likes what Parenteau has been bringing to the team .... nah, Skilly, you know us . . . we could win 14-0 and we'd find something to complain about. I'm trying to look less at individual play and more at team and line play this year (often failing, I admit). when I was complaining about DD it was the whole line that failed -- though he received the brunt of the criticism. he did sell last night, but not as an individual; his linemates get credit too -- PAP did not disappear so gets props. if only Price could play a bit better -- what's with letting in those 2 goals anyway?

On any other night, we only have 1 goal or less on that shot total. It made the Kings look like paupers or pretenders. The Habs weren't crushed by the juggernaut and the upset prompted arrogant LAK fans to act just like sore loser Bruins fans by making snide remarks on the order of "That's their Stanley Cup!" Obviously they totally underestimated the Habs. It's hypocritical to rationalize that the 6 goals were against Martin Jones because It was their coach's option to use Quick the previous night. Some uncelebrated Habs had a chance to shine against a fearsome opponent and they came through. The 20 shots don't include others that weren't on goal or were blocked. Why weren't the Kings smart enough to deny Subban and Markov clear shooting lanes?

Of course the Habs scored 6 goals against their backup but as I recall the last time the Habs faced Jones he mastered them. The best kind of revenge!
