PK is having an off year no doubt but if you ask me the beat down he has gone under from this coaching staff must be a difficult one. PK is an entertainer in ore ways than one but I think the Habs have curbed his creativity a bit too much. No doubt PK needed to find a slightly less risky game but now he rarely does any of the things that made him special. If you ask me he more than made up for his mistakes when he was allowed to go...now he is like a beaten dog when he has a few gaffes. All this aside PK should be at the All Star game isn't this farce of a game more about promotion and selling and whom more than PK is a marketers dream...PK should be front and centre stats aside...think the NHL is still missing the boat when it comes to promoting the game and its stars. HFTO The NHL is a joke, they have a guy who was written about in SI and the New Yorker and they don't have him at an all star game in the US. They want to grow the game in the US and they have a great marketing tool and they fail to use him... I guess Willie O'Ree is the better option for attracting minorities to the game in the US

We don't have an All Star weekend thread, so I'll talk about this here ...
Am I the only one that thinks it's absurb that the last player picked gets a car?? Do players need their ego stroked that much?

We don't have an All Star weekend thread, so I'll talk about this here ... there isn't an all-star thread because there really isn't an all-star game! nope, and obviously. sad. a bunch of ten-year-olds who don't want to be picked last because it's "you-take-him-no-you-take-him". after all, none of them are very good.

And even worse ... A goalie or defenseman can't win the car .... So only 18 players can win it (out of the 43 playing)

Do players need their ego stroked that much? Give me about an hour Skilly ... I'll get one up ... I find the AS format nowadays to be geared more towards the younger fans ... I could be wrong on that but I think it's a good way to plant the seeds for future tickets ... Ottawa 67's owner, Jeff Hunt, gives out 2,000 free tickets to minor hockey teams in the Ottawa area ... Hunt also owns the Redblacks ... I think the Skills Competition appeals to most hockey fans ... I enjoy watching it when I can ... anyway, I'll put something up shortly ... Cheers.

There's a definite trend toward irrelevancy for the All-STar game. Anyone want to count up how many players have opted out discovered that if you want a therapy week, now is the time to do it? Sorry, hurt, can't play in the ASG and yes, I'll miss the following team game as well. Coaches are no doubt encouraging the 'Stars' on their teams to reveal their injuries at this opportune time. I know some replacements were picked due to convenience, but really, it's turned into an all journeyman game.
I stopped watching it years ago, when the scores got silly and everyone decided defense was not something anyone wanted to see at an all-star game. That attitude pollutes the game itself. I'd rather watch road hockey, at least those guys are trying.
