This will be tough. Few Habs besides Pacioretty can put the puck in the net, and if Price is out I would pronounce the Isles the clear betting favorite.

I predict a loss (really going out on a limb). This team is weird though. Sometimes when it seems everything's stacked against them, they play really well. I think in this case, the Islanders are too good, and our confidence sans Price, will be weakened.

Funny how we're all too ready to accept how tough it is for the Habs to play two consecutive nights but don't see it the same for other teams. The isles played Friday night and beat a huge rival. Playing the following night, they would seem ripe for a let down. Having said all that, I don't like our chances without Price.

I'm laying off this one, stoat ... same with Green Bay tomorrow ... the Islanders took out the Penguins 6-3 last night and I'm thinking they'll want to keep that steamroller going tonight ... I think we can take them but our club will have to play like banshees in front of Tokarski ... I found a site that gave the projected lineups and DD is back to centering the second line with Galchenyuk back to LW ... a new game, a new set of lines ... what's new ... Cheers.

Just updated the practice lines ... would like to see how Sekac/Eller/Thomas works ... who won the "how-long-for-DD-to-move-back-to-centre" sweepstakes ... see "The Imitation Game" before it leaves ... one of the best of the year ... not putting in a Saturday night Pro Line on the Habs tonight ... should be a good game ...
Cheers.

Pull the lines out of a hat, MT. Something will work....for a game or two.
This far into the season...and we still don't have a set Top 6....let alone what could be considered a successful PP.
As with Price on most nights, Toker will decide this one.

Galchy's horrible play the last couple of games made MT's decision easy. He needs at least two offensive lines, and it's not Eller or Malhotra that are going to do this.
Still, MT isn't putting DD back with Max, unlike what just about everyone here seemed to be expecting.
As to Tokarski, the good news is that he just had a start, so there shouldn't be too much rust... that first goal by Ottawa was largely the result of his rust leading to a big rebound. Not a horrible play on his part (he did stop the first shot) but it shows there was some rust at work.

I'm just wondering, PTH, if MT's short patience span messes with the players more than it helps. When they get re-assigned (especially to a higher line and/or preferred position), they know they have only 2 or 3 games to show something. If not successful after 1 game, the pressure's really on. So they play tighter and don't get the results. They also know that even 1 game is not enough to let it ride for 10 more or so. The only exception to that rule would be MT's former reluctance to break up DD and Max.
Vicious cycle. If that's the case, the coach is the only one who can stop it.

Whether he does or not is up to him. The issue i have is galchy is the #1 centre of the future yet he gets yanked after a couple of bad games, other players played poorly during those games as well, while MTs favourites get chance after chance. The team is playing well but i still don't believe we can win a cup with MT at the helm, but if he does i will be more than happy to eat crow.

I'm looking forward to this game if only to see how well we play without Price against a top team.
If the Islanders decide to go for it, and we have our usual first period....we could be in for a very long night.

Weise on the first or second lines is a joke...in spot duty on an off night yes but really?? Patches Pleks Gally worked kudos why split it up??...the daily jumble is not working as far as scoring consistency. If Galchenyuk wanted to play LW fine but put Thomas or Bournival on that line Weise is a 3rd or 4th liner no matter who is out.
I had no illusions about this year despite the good run last year but was looking forward to a year of developing our D....not signing older players making us in the bottom 5 of avg. age...because they think they are close. Hope I'm wrong but I think they have tacked on another year to this teams window with the vets they added instead of getting younger by dumping Gionta,Gorges,Bourque, Moen the Habs are still older. At least Beaulieu some how has seemed to fight his way in despite the constant demotions.
Hate railng on a good team but I think they have got ahead of themselves because of last years success and the fact they have an impatient coach. MT may not have his crazy public rants PK excluded (last games rant was asinine good game or not by PK) but he is the same impatient mad man when it comes to players and that can be dangerous.
Unless it's on Prices back I expect a first round exit second at best unless MB makes deals even MT can't screw up. Always hope I'm wrong but so many things point to failure when it counts. Horrible starts almost every game a PP in the bottom of the league for 1 plus years, 1st rounders not developing, and a Norris Trophy defenseman who is regressing in front of our eyes because he has been beaten into a player he is not.... yet they are winning???.... almost mind boggling.

I don't think Paul Romanuk is going to make it through this game.
Voice sounds rough right off the bat.

HFTO Excellent synopsis bud. You hit the nail right on the head. The young players are not developed and worse are punished when they make an error.

Ha! Romanuk's really toned it down...saving his voice.
He sounds like a golf announcer, comparatively.
