We are at the top of the East. Wouldn't know it from the broadcast. Did they once mention what the Habs have accomplished?
It was obvious Hughso and Co don't see the Habs too often. Talking about what moves Chucky has for a youngster. Beau was a bit of a revelation for them. They were impressed Rosey was getting PK time - he's been getting it for a week now. And seemed surprised BGal was going to the net. See you in a few months Hughie when you get to cover the Habs through the playoffs and root against them.

What a night. I got a last second call from Mike McPhee's daughter of all people for 2 free tickets to watch the game. Her and my gf have been close friends since our McGill days. Long story short - we got to spend the intermissions and a good chunk of time after the game in the Alumni room with her, her Dad and 2 big fans from Nova Scotia (a father and son). Got to see Sergio Momesso, Mrs. Beliveau and even a few of our Habs walking by after the game.
Not the best game to watch, but wow what a night. Only wish I could have brought my Dad along.

If you have to see a game like that, frozone, that's the way to see it! Very cool!

Watched the highlights on Sportsnet & TSN. Maybe I missed it but no one seems to mention that while the leafs lost a 3rd line dufus, MTL lost a top 4 D man for two periods plus. (the leafs were better off without Clarkson in the lineup) The Habs D played short for the last 45 minutes but I didn't hear it mentioned the highlight recaps.

Also the broadcast crew, mistakenly, repeated that this was only Beaulieu's 2nd NHL fight. He had two clear wins against Veillleux of Minnesota and some guy from Boston( can't remember his name). You would think the crack reserach staff at Sportsnet could find that out.

In the second period, we were down to 4 D because Beaulieu also had a 10-minute misconduct to serve. So, I can understand some tired legs out there…and a disruption of flow to the game. Subban played over 35 minutes….Markov was a few seconds short of 32:00. No…the Habs will get no respect, no matter what, from the Bay St.-biased boys. If the Leafs were down dmen like that…and managed to come out with a win, it'd be headlines! We're just ticked because we think we should've beaten the Leafs handily DESPITE being in that situation. Ha! Expectations.

I`m not going to talk about the game since it has been well covered by my fellow members. I will rather, respond to the `suggestions` portion of the title. IMHO, this team needs a trade to wake it up. I believe that they are playing too comfortably. I`m not saying trade Price or another core piece, but say an Eller or even BGal. Something needs to be done to shock these guys into playing with more intensity and desperation. These sleepwalking efforts against the lower lights of the league are unacceptable, and have to change if the team has any real hope of going far in the playoffs.

Eller maybe, and I wouldn't be surprised - especially with Rosey who will be much better than Eller if he isn't already - very high IQ. BGal ain't going anywhere. After Carey, PK and Max (and maybe Chucky) he is our most useful player and is not the guy tp get rid of if it's all about waking people up. If Sid is coming back the other way then MB should think about it. I'm hoping these are just doldrums in mid Feb and we'll pick it up in the next few weeks. We could lose 10 in a row and still be comfortably in a playoff position. MB will strengthen the team for a run but it won't be at the expense of top 6 forwards (BGal) or top 4 D.

While I would have preferred that the Leafs get their loser point from somebody else, I'm not going to worry about it too much. They're beneath us. Way beneath us. Let the CBC crew have their moments, their season will be over soon enough.
I thought of Iginla last week, to the point where I went and looked into his advanced stats and everything. They aren't particularly good, if you're into that sort of thing. No doubt Iginla would be a welcome addition, but I don't know if he is THE addition that would put us over the top and thus warrant the risk those two extra years on the contract bring. In Berg we trust I suppose.

Let the CBC crew have their moments, they're season will be over soon enough. Their precious Leafs' season may be over…but their Downplaying-the-Habs season will continue…mainly in the form of openly cheering for the opposition. Witness last year's playoffs. French-language package it will be.

Even PK admits he was tired and got undressed ... there was two shifts in particular where he threw his hands up in the air cause he didnt have the strength to clear the puck. Scott Oake talks about PK not meaning his compliment, but he should look in the mirror, because he obvious didnt watch the game if he serious believes that PK didn't look tired that game.

Maybe somebody from the Habs' or Subban's camp has talked with HNIC about their less-than-glowing commentary on PK's game over the years.
I can't imagine Oake saying something like that to another player.

No question he was tired at times, and anyone would be with some shifts of the length that he played. I'd agree with PK that Scott Oake is excellent at his job. Glen Healy not so much.
