Gilbert injuredLooks like Beau and Pateryn will be the 3rd pairing and Petry and Emelin will be the 2nd pairing. I like that defensive 6 Markov-Subban Petry-Emelin Pateryn-Beau

Two rookies, whatever happened to Weaver and Tinordi for that matter? With the former I suspect he's topped out talent wise and the latter may have topped out hockey iq wise. Let's hope that Beau passes Lord Stanley to Greg this spring. Wouldn't that be a sight to be hold indeed.

Could be right on Tinrodi. I think it's something else holding him back, but he may indeed have reached his top end. I'm comfortable with a Pateryn/Beaulieu pairing. The ice time will help them.

And the forgotten man Drewiske looks like he's done for the regular season at least.

I am LOVING the depth on defense we now have. The only complaint I have is Tinordi's lack of progression into a mean crease-clearer. And even that has been offset somewhat by the pure strength Petry has shown on occasion. Like that one-arm knock-down from the other night. It's been about a million years since the last time I was last happy with the blueline, so that says something. Sure, they're not all Top 4 defensemen, and no, none of them could replace Subban, but there is so much real, NHL depth there that we could lose 3 defensemen to injuries and still not miss a beat. Heck, I'm beginning to think that Petry could probably replace Markov, and while not as good, there wouldn't be as big a drop-off as in years past. "Eric" Weaver ( ) is our NINTH defenseman, for crying out loud. Tinordi our TENTH! I know neither of them have had great seasons, but would anybody be all that concerned if either one had to play 10-14 minutes in the playoffs? I know I wouldn't be. That's your NINTH and TENTH defensemen! * I loved "Mike" Weinrich by the way. Such an underrated defenseman for us.

Ok, you win. I looked all over the Bulldogs roster to see if I could find a connection and didn't think of the big team itself

Yeah, says something for the team's defensive depth when they can sit an established pairing like Beaulieu and Gonchar (SJ game) ... good on Bergevin ... Cheers.

Defense is great ... if we put the puck in the net. And not our net.

You had to bring Drewiski up. I had forgotten all about him as did everyone else in the world I hadn't. I've read some articles that suggest he was perhaps the best, if not flashiest, in Hamilton this year.
