Do you remember the news outlet you found it at, Dis? I'm trying to find it on Google but thus far no dice. I'll try to find it later, Mattias, but I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who was at the game ... I dropped him a line to see if that was left anywhere in the French media ... I'll try to verify that buds ... Cheers. Surprised this friend of a friend of a friend hasn't used social media to say, "Well, actually..."

the girl who was "assaulted" in Montreal apparently wasn't minding her own business ... she and the other girl were stirring up as much crap as they could and the Habs fans simply had enough ... I don't have a link to that but if I find it I'll post it ... Quelle surprise. always good to get the full story. Not that surprising, people victimizing themselves sometimes don't tell the whole story. She's young and cute, so everyone jumps the gun.

Why would anyone care about a fan being harassed in a visiting building. Get over it.

No matter what the cause, there is no reason to throw away $11.25 worth of perfectly drinkable beer

I have a few times, I find if you behave properly no one will bother you. If you have a loud mouth, you will have issues.

I do it all the time here. never a problem except for some good-natured ribbing back and forth throughout the game; and a "tolja" if the Sens win and a "next time" if they lose. the other is over the top.

I certainly wouldn't go into enemy territory, with a Habs jersey, if I weren't with a large group of people. I have a few times, I find if you behave properly no one will bother you. If you have a loud mouth, you will have issues. This it it, here ... out of all of the rinks I've been to over the years, the most well-mannered fans I've come across are Calgary fans ... honestly, second on that list would be Habs fans ... we've had some humility shoved in our faces since '93 and that has led to a change in attitude just about across the board with Habs fans ... I remember the championship mindset changing a few years back ... la Linge Rouge, Petrov/Zohltok/Zubrus, was our best line ... we needed to win the last game of the season to make the playoffs and we lost, at home, to the Senators 3-0 ... back in the 70's people would have hoarded out of the building with about 5-10 minutes to go just to get a start on the traffic, but there were a lot of fans who stayed behind to salute their team after the game that night ... at that point I knew the attitude had changed ... people still wanted Cups, but the whole league had gotten better ... that was easily the toughest stretch for me as a Habs fan ... however, while I had big expectations last year, those expectations paled in comparison to what I'm expecting this year ... they're 3 up on Ottawa, but they haven't buried the Senators as yet ... and it won't get any easier for them if they do win this series ... the league has gotten better ... Cheers.

I'd like to get some sort of account. Exactly how were they misbehaving? Not sure if playful jabs or general rudeness warrants misogynistic behaviour (calling them whores).

Without audio and video, we'll never know. People lie. On both sides.

They all got their 15 mins of fame ... And of course a free playoff game for some. The story never should have been as huge as it was ....
I was at a St. John's Maple Leaf game years ago, they were playing the Montreal farm team (I believe it was the Bulldogs at the time) and I was cheering hard for the Bulldogs ... BACK STORY: there is an open line radio show in town and back then there was this guy from Quebec, named Louie, that called in everyday to vent and tell the host how bass-ackwards Newfoundland and their views were ... Back to my story. So there was this old guy behind me, and he was calling me f***-lover all game long. I didn't say anything, I'd give him looks. Then once he told yell at me to get my fr** loving ass back to "Louie"ville. Everyone around laughed, I had a chortle too ... It was a pretty good pun. When I turned and asked if he knew Louiville was in Kentucky, he said "what, Louie is in Quebec, fr** country" , I treplied , I didn't think your bigot ass was smart enough to know that.
All hands stayed calm for the rest of the game ... But suffice it to say, verbal abuse occurs in a lot of games, and 99% of the time it doesn't make the news. And most times when it escalates, both parties had a hand in it

Good one, Skilly!
The old "participating in a battle of wits with an unarmed man".
I'm surprised he stayed calm the rest of the game…for some reason, bigots don't appreciate being called on their bigotry.
You handled that very well.

There were a couple of guys trying to troll me when I was in Boston in November. Saying horrible comments loud enough for me to hear. I didn't bite. Just cheered loud when my team scored and left the building with a smile on my face.

Surprised this friend of a friend of a friend hasn't used social media to say, "Well, actually..." I posted the link above. ^^ Anon, I believe the info Matt and Rick are looking for is about the 2 girls "picked" on at the Habs game. Rick mentioned that he heard they weren't as sweet and innocent as the media is having everyone believe.
