According to the Team 690, Brian Flynn's agent Derek Orr says that the team is close to re-signing the RFA.
I can't imagine it's for anything more than $800,000, and I would think less. I'm sure there will be much hand-wringing, but I don't see a problem with it. He's only 24, and is a useful depth player. If it doesn't work out, he's a good AHL player. He goes into the 13th forward mix, with Bournival, Dumont, and whoever.

Well, if he's going to sign Flynn then something has to give ... Bergevin is running out of cap space ...
Cheers.

Well, if he's going to sign Flynn then something has to give ... Bergevin is running out of cap space ... Cheers. He's got enough room to sign both Flynn and Galchenyuk in my opinion, and still have some room left over. Flynn at say $800,000, and Galchenyuk at $3 million (should be less) will still give him about a million dollars in cap space, assuming the cap is set at $71.5 million. And he'd have a full roster at that point, so no need to add anybody else. Now if he wants to add salary, then that's a different problem. But then we knew that already. But he doesn't have to ship anybody out in a cap dump, at this point.

BC, if we go into the season with the same roster as last year I'll be very disappointed ... if Marc Bergevin wants to address the lack of scoring now, I think he's going to have to free up some cap space so as to bring someone in ... we can't keep riding the best goaltender in the world year after year and say we're a great team ... don't get me wrong, I think this team is a lot better than they've shown already, but they simply have to start supporting Carey Price for a change ... a few more goals would do that ... goodness knows that Price has supported his teammates ... Cheers.

Don't know what it means, but Renaud Lavoie is tweeting that Alex Galchenyuk has fired his agent. Very "interesting" timing.

MacKenzie said not to read anything into it; that it happens all the time. fwiw, grain of salt, and all that.

Larionov is now airing dirty laundry saying the player and family won't take his advice regarding contract negotiations, and that led to the firing.
One has to wonder if Galchenyuk feels he should get the same deal Gallagher got.

Galchenyuk made a few bonuses last year ... I'd say he probably made more than what the Habs are offering and wants an increase on that

League and PA agree that cap ceiling will be $71.4 million and floor will be $52.8 million. Gives us a little extra room.

If the Habs get all qualified RFAs signed, with the 3 AHL defenders they've added today, that's 43 pro contracts. 17 of those contracts are to defensemen.

Without a doubt, Pacioretty is dream deal for the club. Tarasenko just got $60M usd for 8 years. And of course there hard to manage sniper deals like Kessell.

So, with Semin taking roster spot #22 at $1.1M, the Habs now sit at $65,708,333 according to this site (and that includes the PAP buyout amount). www.hockeyscap.com/teams/canadiensIf you add the difference between Tinordi's salary ($850,500) and Barberio ($600,000), then the Habs total cap burn for 22 players is adjusted to $65,958,833. With a $71.4M cap, the Berg now has $5,441,167 left to sign Galchenyuk and have some spare cap space for any deadline deals.
