(if this should be on another page please move it)
IF we are to get it together and make a good run in the next week or two and secure ourselves in a playoff spot should a trade be made?? or do we stick with what we have and see where we make it?
Also will Gainey unload people like perrault and quintal if we blow our chances of a playoff spot?
Personally as much as i would love to see a trade made if where going into the playoffs, i don't want to see us give up much this year, becuase i am pretty confident we aren't going to the cup this year, some small tinkering here and there wouldn't hurt though, seems Gainey knows his stuff when it comes to that

Its obviously a tough go in the east but,you never know when the next Carolina, Washington,Buffalo or Anahiem is going to get on one of those magical runs. The one ace when he's on is Theo. Iis it unlikey, probably but who would of bet on any of those other teams going to the final, not one had a truly lethal offense. The Habs have enough of the players that alot of these teams are looking for young cheap with an upside.Atleast half will never play with the big club.I'm sure there has been time to evaluate enough of them that you can make a decsion to part ways. There is always a risk in making the wriong move but you need to take some risks to improve. Its obvious the Habs are'nt going to mortage themselves to the point the cupboard is bare.this team needs help so why not start the process now,you certainly can't do it all at once.By adding a few pieces that have potential to contribute down the road sometimes can produce results far beyond ones expecation with a goaltender and a little luck.Maybe its time we stir the hockey gods and remind them were still alive and kicking and maybe just maybe they'll open up that old door. Gainey can't make a deal for a big name player unless Gillett releases the money. He's already paying a lot of money to ex-Habs.

A question then on Mr.Bozo's post in regards to league payroll I was a liitle shocked to see the Habs as low as #17 and crying poor. Does this number not include the salaries of McKay, Chow, and Audette? If it doesn't I maynot be as disappointed as I was seeing us that low. Regardless I think a playoff round or two would more than cover the mid range kind of player I think the Habs should target ala a Ryan Smith type in the $3-4 mil range. HFTO

Great post HFTO. These two paragraphs sum up my thoughts exactly. It is obvious that the team needs to move forward and make a trade at some point, so why not work towards making that move this year?

Who is to say he isn't trying? Just because a team isn't making trades doesn't mean it's not talking trades. It's waiting for the right deal to come along that really makes the biggest difference.
