What Did You Really Expect?

Did you really think we could package up Hack, Audi, and Dykhuis for McLaren? I'm sure if I look back on some posts I would see that deal listed somewhere.
If you think the Habs got robbed on this deal, you don't really know a thing about today's NHL. No other teams were interested in Hack. If you can't take Savard's word for it, then please enlighten us and tell us who else was interested. Boston offered nothing more than a 4th round pick for a 34 year old free-agent to be that has yet to win a thing in his NHL career. Sounds about right to me. So obviously someone got the Sharks involved and we end up with at the very worst a solid NHL third liner, and a 3rd round pick. Before yesterday I would have been surprised if we'd gotten either one of those two things for Hack, let alone both.
And why didn't Savard wait until the deadline and force the Bruins to give up more than a 4th? One name, Sean Burke. With Bierk and Boucher is the desert the writing is all over the wall that Burke is on his way out sooner, rather than later. The market for Hack was the Bruins, plain and simple. Would you prefer if AS had sat on Hack until the deadline and the Bruins pulled the trigger for another goalie? Would you rather have Sundstrom and a 3rd rounder or a big fat "in the end we weren't satisfied with the offer"?
And if you're pissed off because the Bruins are better off now, well get over it. We got a very decent return on Hack, and if that means the Bruins make the playoffs in 2003 and we don't, well who really cares? The Habs' future is not now, it's when Hainsey, Markov, Komi, Hossa, Balej, Plekanec and the other kids hit their prime and solid vets like Koivu, Zednik and Rivet lead the charge.
