Pardon me as I'm new to this forum and I'm sure it's been discussed here at length, but, besides Carbo leaving, what has happened to the once well respected PK unit of a year ago? We were blessed with this at the hands of Carbo, his system and the players he used. The players are still here. Carbo is not. Why did they feel a need to change something that was working so well? Why are they not making an attempt to revert back to the system and players they used last year? I'm no Scotty Bowman, but, even I can see that something so easily lost can be so easily regained. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to make it work...or does it? hehe Anyway, if anyone can shed some light on this, please do.

Well I don't want to start a bash Therrien thread again but the guy had no solutions for the team's weaknesses anymore. Bulis-Juneau-Dackell were overused and tired when the time to kill penalties came. With sundstrom in the line up expect an upgrade in the PK department. Let's not forget Theo blew it badly in the beginning of the season

I think that it's a combination of things that are causing problems for the Habs in the PK situation. 1. New system invoqued by GC has been unsuccessful... 2. New obstruction rules are causing fits to the habs defensemen. A prime example is Dykhuis. His game was clutch and grab. Since he can't do this anymore, opponents are free wheeling in the offensive zone an getting tons of chances. 3. Soft defensemen in front of the net. Opposing players are free to stand in front of the Goaltender without fear of being touched. The only D who does a good job without taking penalties is Markov. His skill compensates for his lack of toughness. Breezy is a whimp and Traverse is laughable. Rivet is a lot softer since his wrist injury. Toughness in front is key. IMO.

Rivet is a lot softer since his wrist injury. Toughness in front is key. I can't understand why a wrist injury has made him softer. Can't he use his shoulders ? I think the wrist thing just doesn't excuse him fully Hasn't he signed a big lenghty contract last summer ? Not implying anything here

Reinstate the old system immediately. 2. Seems to me and Brett Hull that the new obstruction rules are all but gone. 3. I reiterate, we have the same players we had last year, in fact even better ones to choose from. Just doesn't make any sense as to how something so good could turn so bad so fast. Isn't there a song about this?

Markov not tough? I disagree. He's tough but compensates for his lack of size with his smarts.
