1. Did anybody else notice that in the overhead view of Koivu's penalty shot it showed the puck was cleearly on its way into the net before Koivu touched it and dragged it past the outside of the post (and ending the play)? Yup..saw that as well... But that was a great save by Bulin wall... you always gotta deke on breakaways...

2. Czerkawski had about 3 or 4 really good shifts and none that were atrocious. 4. Theodore dropped to his knees (again) before the shot that tied the game had left the stick of Andreychuk. 2. Mariusz is a very happy man. 4. Andreychuk was falling. Théo refexively followed his body motion. I'm sure Melançon will have Brisebois coming in alone on Théo in practice tomorrow as many times as it takes to get him to stay on his feet (Théo, that is).

They say CJ is a 'quick learner'
He can really make adjustments on the fly
Hopefully Brisebois in the dying moments of a hockey game is something we will never see again and an adjustment he will make.
He can be just brutal. I'd rather see Quintal or Rivet on the ice in that situation......

Yup..saw that as well... But that was a great save by Bulin wall... you always gotta deke on breakaways... I don't think you do. But you do have to get it up. Usually. Btw, I think one of the mistakes players make on penalty shots is not going at full speed from the blueline in. Dropping the speed even 10% or so from what a goalie would normally see in play is a big advantage for the goaltender. I used to play goal, and there's a big difference when a guy comes down on you at full tilt compared to when he's going at 3/4 throttle from the blueline in.

Agreed.
Going 5 hole NEVER works. You gotta get it up(Shawn Bates on Cujo in playoffs last year comes to mind) with a laser shot(usually blocker side) or go for a deke.

I've been a goalie for over 20 yrs now and the hardest things to deal with on a breakaway are:
1) Speed, when a guy comes in flying and you're out abit to take away the shot if you don't time your back tracking properly they either go around you or you back up too quick and give up the net.
2) Reach, nothing hurts more(literally)like trying to adjust to a sudden 3 foot shift of the puck. Ever see Mario do that deke where he just one hands the puck around the guy at the last second.
My personal preference is to give the shooter something usually 5-hole to a lefty and glove to a righty 8 times outa 10 they go for it. Remember Zedder against Turek on new years he even said afterwards that he was thinking 5 hole all the way in but just couldn't resist that open top corner whoops there's Tureks glove out of seemingly no where.
