What I really wanted to do was express what Jeff meant to the club, or at least what I though he brought to the club anyway.
He was a stalwart goaltender who could be relied on to make the big save or come up with the big game. There was no better backup in the league at this point, probably because he was always a starting goaltender first and foremost.
He was also largely responsible for some of Theodore's development as well. He was Theo's best supporter by far. Every time Jeff was on the bench and Theo put in a strong performance, there was nothing but encouragement and smiles for the young goaltender. Classy guy?
He also knew how to handle the media. He didn't always give the best interview, but he never backed down from the camera and if thought the media was full of it, he said so. And nothing really came back on him.
Hackett's a leader. In fact he was one of the few genuine leaders on this team who could open his mouth and back it up. We've seen every goaltender bone the odd goal once in a while; it's normal. But, Jeff's mis-plays were few and far between. That reliability thing coming into play again.
I wish Jeff Hackett well in his new WARM surroundings. I would have loved to have seen him remain in Montreal, but if anyone deserved to leave the oft-fickle fiasco in Montreal, Jeff did.
Chapeau t'Jeff!

I posted in the other thread that Hack will lead the B's into the playoffs. I'll miss him and will hate to see him in the black and gold. HFTO

He's one happy camper, HFTO. He knows the Habs have been taken off guard. I'd be very surpised if Savard knew of this deal before hand. There's no way he would make this three-way.
And yes, the Bruins are playoff bound it looks. Hack should get the royal treatment.
Cheers.

Aaaaaamen, Aaaaaaaamen, Aaaa, Aaaamen, Amen, Amen. All together now......
A true class act Dis. We will miss him for sure. And Boston gains that class, for a few months anyway.

I was a big fan when he arrived here and I still am. A classy individual. He wouldn't get sucked into the BS the french media tried last season. He just did his job and supported his teammates. You can't ask for anything more. Boston just got a hell of a player.

Just heard a bit of a radio interview, AS didn't seem in the least surprised. The B's were going to improve by dealing McLaren regardless.... if AS thinks Sundstrom can be a good player for us, eh had to make the deal. It's better than just getting a compensatory pick for Hack, and seeing McLaren go elsewhere and have the B's improve as much anyhow.

What you say is true, Dis. Hack had injuries but he always performed admirably on the ice and I suspect that guys in the room who appreciate hard work and straight talk like & respect Jeff.
He served well during hard times for the organisation and I too wish him well.
