They both have been, well terrible, in the past few games
Maybe it's time to split them up?
As a pairing they are real soft...and brutal defensively
Call me crazy, but I would try this
Markov-Brisebois Hainsey-Rivet Traverse-Quintal
My thinking:
-Markov's the best d-man Brisebois has played with in years. Markov also has somewhat of a physical touch so that should make Brisebois a little less scared. Tell Brisebois to take care of his own end and let Markov go for it on the attack
-Markov should only get better playing more minutes
-It's a wake up call to Rivet. He has to improve his play to make up for Hainsey's rookie mistakes. Tell him it's his job to help Hainsey like he helped Markov
-Hainsey should play with more confidence as well with a little more ice time
-Traverse's ice time is reduced big time, only a good thing! and he is playing with a physical guy instead of Brisebois
Am I am way out in the woods here or does this make sense?

By jove, you should be the coach. You hit the nail on the head. They could only get better and more confident if that is done. When Souray gets back, send Travesty back to Hamilton so Komi can show him how to hit.

Marc you crazy..hehehe you asked for it..
I like your idea, I don't mind getting Markov to play more but he needs a stay at home dman with him and brisebois is far from that.
Richt now, there are two solutions they play him with Rivet or Q and I don't think having Q on the ice that much is a good idea so they have to keep him with Rivet but play them more..at least more than brisebaton and tramerde. They can join Markov the great with Souray when he comes back and then pair Brisebois and Rivet.
You let Q and Hainsey together so the kid learns from the best...hahaha..learn what's not to do

I had to moan on the Devs 2nd goal, Traverse left his spot in front of the net like a dog chasing a stick. Of course the puck goes directly there and "whammo" in the net. Meanwhile poor Kilger is left scratching his head wondering where Traverse went, and the RDS crew jump on him like a leper. Amazing, they never knock Traverse.

I am just trying to forget about Souray. Out of sight, out of mind. When he comes back, it will be good but we just can't pin our hopes on him.
AS must find a way to get a big tough left d-man. Not a world beater. Just a guy like Andy Sutton or Chris Tamer. Offer up Traverse. Sheesh deals like this are made all the time in the NHL. Crap for Crap.
New left D-Brisebois Markov/Hainsey-Rivet Markov/Hainsey-Quintal
That would be perfect. The 2 young talented offensively left-handed d-man with the stay at home physical right handed d-man types and Brisebois with a big tough left D
But since we don't have that big left d-man...gotta do it with what we have!!!
and Rocky is correct about the 2nd Devs goal. Traverse went to play the puck(in the right corner) instead of the man and the whole left side of the ice became available for Nieuwy to come in. Kilger can be blamed but Traverse just looked horrible on that play.

Yeah Traverse was to blame on this but why Killlllger?? I know he was in the picture but Ribeiro wasn't far either and since he was pivoting this line wasn't Nieuwendyk his man and even if he wasn't as a center he should have been supporting his defense down low

That goal completely sums up everything that is wrong with our "system" where the D and the forwards meet in our zone. Haven't ya ever noticed that when the other team has the puck on the half-boards they pretty much can do whatever they want because it seems niether the forward or the d-man know who's suppossed to take him.

To borrow from and expand upon what previous posters have said:
Yes, pair Hainsey with Rivet. Craig definitely had a positive effect on Markov and genuinely seems to enjoy taking a younger d-man under his wing. Markov had good things to say about this arrangement. Rivet is reasonably effective (high praise for a Habs d-man these days) and is defensively responsible. Better Ron should play with him than Brisebois or Quintal.
Put Markov with Quintal. Markov is our best d-man at this point, and requires no "mentoring" from Quintal (actually Stépahne might learn a thing or two in this pairing). Q can play "last man back" and let Andrei do his thing.
That leaves Traverse with Brisebois for now. Too bad, so sad. Cut the gaffes by cutting their ice-time and increasing that of the pairings mentioned above. When Seldom Seen Sheldon returns tell Pat (either one actually - but Traverse for argument's sake) to take a seat. I pity the poor schmuck who makes Shelley look bad in front of his new wife, who's been taking such good care of him during his recovery.
That, in a nutbar, is my solution.
