We seem to be entering into another golden age for Russian hockey talent, which is putting the spotlight on the comparative "skills deficiency" Canadian hockey.
Seriously, the WJC's were exciting, but I have never seen a bigger skills gap between the Canadian and Russian teams. Where were the impact players for Canada? Sure you could have put Rick Nash or Jason Spezza out there, but it may not have changed the outcome, and without exceptional goaltending, it would have been a blowout.
The top pick next year will be Zherdev, the year after that it will be Ovechkin, is there anyone else even close?

Well Russia's population is also like 6 times ours if not more.... But their skill was simply amazing. Zherdev was on their 3rd line and this guy could be the top pick in the draft Just one thing though...have you ever seen so much acne in your life? steroids anyone?

Well Nash and Spezza don't change the game, as the Russians could just add Chistov and some kid they have playing for the Thrashers, IIlya something or other.

Still doesn't add up. Throw Kovalchuk out there and the Russians are downright frightening.
