and compare the PPG's average of each season of his career with Zednik's
1st NHL season:
Bulis: 1997-98 ~ 0.33 PPG
Zednik: 1997-98 ~ 0.4 PPG
2nd NHL season:
Bulis: 1998-99 ~ 0.61 PPG
Zednik:1998-99 ~ 0.35 PPG
3rd NHL season:
Bulis: 1999-00 ~ 0.55 PPG
Zednik: 1999-00 ~ 0.51 PPG
4th NHL season:
Bulis: 2000-01 ~ 0.45 PPG
Zednik: 2000-01 ~ 0.59 PPG
5th NHL season:
Bulis: 2001-02 ~ 0.36 PPG
Zednik: 2001-02 ~ 0.54 PPG
6th NHL season
Bulis: 2002-03 ~ 0.45 PPG
Zednik: 2002-03 ~ 0.79 PPG
Career stats:
Bulis: 286 games, 40 goals, 90 assists, 130 points, +7, 405 shots, 9.8 shooting%, 0.45 PPG
Zednik: 389 games, 107 goals, 92 assists, 199 points, -8, 999 shots, 10.7 shooting%, 0.51 PPG
The PPG average are pretty close, ditto for the shooting percentage..
But the key stat here, IMO...
Bulis: Date of birth: Mar 18, 1978
Zednik: Date of birth: Jan 6, 1976
Zednik is more than 2 years older than Bulis. Bulis put up unbelievable numbers in 1998-99 when he was 20 years old for most of that season. A 0.61 PPG is excellent for a kid that age. He also had a better PPG in 1999-2000 than Zednik. But since then Zednik has really progressed while Bulis has stalled offensively.
I was reading some old magazines from 1997,98, 99,00...and many times they said Bulis was Oates' successor and he was a kid with great potential.
Injuries have also hit Bulis hard. His career high in games played is 56!
So far Bulis has 4 points in 4 games playing on the top line. 4 assists and he could have at least 2-3 goals. Does he have bad hands or is he just unlucky or does he have the same ''problem'' Zednik had last year?( i.e. having great chances and not being able to score...and we all know how Zednik busted out once those pucks went in late last year)...
Is Bulis a late bloomer? can he emerge as a 20 goal, 50-60 points per year winger? is he only going to be a checker/PKer?
Discuss.
