Except that I wouldn't call him "the Rat"... maybe "The Whistleblower" or "The Realist". I really think it is Joe Juneau and not Audette. He made comments last year about the fact that the Habs should practice the PP and a bunch of other remarks about how some players were used. At the beginning of this year, he wasn't happy with MT for shuffling his line around and he told reporters about it.
And yesterday, MT went out after him saying "les checkeux" also need to score some goals. Not a surprising remark considering Juneau didn't score in his last 17 games, but MT never before critized his veterans (except Chow), not Gilmour after a slow start, not even Audette (who also didn't score in his last 17, ouch!) really compared to what he said about Juneau yesterday. I think that Juneau thinks MT is an idiot and he's probably not the only on the team. The speed at which we are falling down tells me there are many of them to ensure us a playoffs spot?

Sigh. Damn server problems.
Soon-to-be posted (?) article not only talks about this very topic, but it also mentions backing a dump truck full of money up to Scotty Bowman's house, with the caveat that he has to bring his little stopwatch back behind Montreal's bench for a season or two.
Course with these them there 'puter problems, it just looks like the article is a mish-mash of recent posts.
Damn you Scuba Steve!

When I catch a rat in my trap, I put in a fresh piece of cheese and reset the trap. I doubt there is only one rat in the attic.

I agree about Juneau and i will add 1 more reason:
Blanchard in La Presse was asking himself why the "rat" hasn't been moved to another team, saying that the managements has no guts, etc..
Probably because the rat is an "important" player that they can't replace easily and to me, Juneau fits that description much more than Audette.
Anyway, whoever it is, it was cheap to tell that anonymously to a journalist. Shut up or stand for what you say.
MT did a mistake, but still, it's the players on the ice who blown a 2 goals lead.

Juneau has never been afraid to say what he thinks in public and neither has Audette.
Whoever said what was said is a guy that usually doesn't come out IMO and that certainly did not want it to come out the way it did. Still whoever said that it was a bad coaching decision to put Lindsay out there for that important faceoff was 100% right.
Blanchard picked up on that "story" because he smelled the dirt it could move, that's all. Don't be fooled, a journalist's agenda is about nothing but his own popularity.
Here's a story for you that I am not sure you might or might not have heard:
Back in the Mario Tremblay coaching days, Rejean Tremblay was shredding him to pieces in the media every chances he was getting: Uncovering "stories" about unhappy players and blatant coaching mistakes and the whole nine yard. A month or so after Mario Tremblay got fired, Pierre Trudel who was then the host of the highly listened to radio show "les amateurs de sport" had Mario Tremblay on his show and they decided to call up Rejean Tremblay. As soon as Rejean Tremblay got on the line he started to say how sorry he was about Mario losing his job and this and that. Mario Tremblay said "Rejean, why don't you tell the fans why you were constantly on my back..". Of course Rejean was acting all surprised and shocked and Mario then went on to tell a little story: "..In his early days as the HABS coach, Rejean Tremblay went to Mario Tremblay's office to ask him for a one on one interview, Mario politely asked him to go through the HABS public relation guy for this type of request and that for now he would have to wait for a press conference just like every other media people..."
Rejean Tremblay acknowledged and Mario continued on.
"...Rejean Tremblay was totally insulted as he expected to be treated like a "special case", not like every other media people. . Rejean left Mario's office and proceeded where all the other reporters were gathered. He then told the reporters how that "little puke" Tremblay would feel his wrath for treating him the way he did... "
At this point of the show, Reajean Tremblay went no, no, no, that's not how it happened, and this and that. Mario Tremblay then said.
"...What you don't know Rejean is I followed you out of my office and heard all you said. If you want to say it's not true, we could call right now, half a dozen guys that will confirm my story..."
Rejean Tremblay just said: "I was not suppose to be treated like any journalist of the beat. YOU were the new guy around and YOU needed to be thought a lesson..."
Blanchard never publicly challenged that player because he probably did not want to have that player challenge him right back. What was said was said, but if it was so insignificant that neither Therrien nor Savard decided to act on it, then it probably wasn't the "big thing" Blanchard wants us to believe it was. As DIS said, what's Montreal whithout it's hockey controvery. To this I'll add: if there isn't any real controvery going on, well, let's just make it up.
Malakhov, Carbo, Roy and Chelios were all chased out of Montreal because of the media overblowing a story and forcing HABS management to take position. In this case, Blanchard failed because Savard and Therrien did not play his little game.

Wasn't the TREMBLAY the one who came up with this whole rat thing? I thought he was the one who got the quote... . Blanchard just continued talking about it?
