This is where we're headed...

If you think our situation is bad now, let me point you in the direction we seem to be heading --------------> RANGERS. Let's look at our situation for a second. We have a wonderful new owner. I mean that, GG is the man. All the players love him and he's been good for the team. Maybe too good. Our owner has tons of money and his hockey team is nothing more than a tax write off. There can't be a better situation than that really. A bottomless pit of money and he throws a lot of it our way which is nice. If it doesn't happen to work out then, hey! 'my hockey team is losing money, claim it' I sure as hell hope the players don't think that way cause what'll end up happening is we're gonna get stuck with a bunch of lazy players who keep thinking 'so we suck, he'll just go out and sign someone, he's got the money'. Come to think of it, we already have lazy players.
We love to blame all our troubles on the coaching staff and for the most part they deserve it. I can't help but think of the Rangers though. Coaching change didn't seem to help them much did it? Even with Bure in the lineup they weren't doing well. Why is that? Such a great team. Good forwards, decent defence (no worse than ours that's for sure) a lot of gritty players. They could use some goaltending help but their goalie isn't why they're not winning. Can't be the coach cause he got replaced and it's not getting better.
During the summer we all hoped we could sign Holik or Selanne. Would one of those guys really help us all that much? Holik and all his money isn't doing sh*t down in NYC and there's no indication Selanne would make much of a difference in our lineup. I mean, it'd be nice but I'm sure the Rangers fans thought the same of Holik.
What do you do if you're NY that you haven't already done? what do you do if Therrien and Green get fired and nothing changes? How do you react to that? Do you start signing free agents like crazy? We're already in the top 10 when it comes to payrolls...what do you do? The Rangers situation is bad and we look a lot like they did a few years ago. Almost but not quite untill everything fall apart together. Story of their lives and sadly becoming ours as well. And no, nothing changes if we win the next 4 straight cause we all know that this team is gonna hover around .500 all season long.
As bad as the Rangers were or are, they still never got outshot in every single game. We might even beat their sadness record in the long run.
