Yes the GM of the Sens, he was sitting right next to me at the Sweden-Czech game (was probably scouting Klepis). I noticed him but hey he was doing his job so i wasn't gonna bother him but i was talking to my friend about Nilson (Swedish player.....Kent's son) and how much he had impressed me and he just joined in the conversation. So i asked him a few questions, mosly about the Senators situation but I asked him if Savard had been active at all in trade talks, I was expecting him to say he couldn't tell me or he wasn't sure, but he actually told me some stuff (mostly I already knew but some knew information)
He said he came very close to trading Audette and a draft pick to Nashville for Karlis Skrastins but Nashville backed out, He almost dealt Czerkawski and hackett for Dvorak and Tomas Kloucek but Savard then wanted a better prosepct like Lundmark instead, and he also called Muckler asking about Bonk but he said there really isn't anyone on montreal he really wants that Savard would part with. Apparently he (Savard) is looking for a physical defenceman and a skilled LW and size up front, but isn't willing to part with much.
I also know from a source of my own for a cold hard fact that Nashville wanted Gilmour, and Savard wanted Hulse or Skrastins but no deal took place......seems like Savard and Poile have been talking alot, maybe a deal is imminent?
He also said that Higgins has impressed him in the tournament thus far, and he said that Perezhogin has obvious talent but it's really raw.
So I thought that was interesting, maybe you already knew but still it's good to know that Savard is making an effort and that the prospects are doing well, I'm sure there's much more going on with Savard and trades but I was surprised he even told me that much. anyways thought I'd pass that on.
Happy New Year! ''
WOW. This guy's posts have been pretty credible in the past so this is no bull IMO
The Audette+draft pick for Skrastins would have been nice
The fact AS backed out of the Chow/Hack for Kloucek/Dvo deal dissapoints me BIG TIME. There was no need to ask for Lundmark..Kloucek and Dvorak would have been a pretty good return if Slats was ready to make that deal!!!
Nice to see AS looking for size.
I am not surprised by the fact Nashville wants Dougy...leadership for a young team..
