Looks like Chow has a future in the AHL. In his first game, he picked up 2 pts, 1g 1a, as the dogs went on to beat the leafs, 4-1. Maybe he will become an AHL superstar (well he gets paid more then half the team combinded ). I still don't understand this, but if Audette would just retire, then it would be great not having to watch either of two.

Well I had a hard time trying to figure out why this move was made, but now it makes a lot of sense. Chow was sent down, cause he had to be. When you are put on waivers, you have 30 days to be sent down, or you have to clear waivers again. Also importantly, Petrov is ready to come back, so a roster spot had to be opened. We could have sent Hainsey down, or relased Lindsay/Blouin, but instead we sent down Chow, and maybe it will be the kick in the pants he needs. What it should do, is force Savard to make a move at some point over the next month, cause I doubt Gillette wants to have a 2.6M wasting in the AHL.

Yeah that's the best way to put it.
But no one knew Friday night Petrov was about to join the team in Calgary. So that's why many freaked out when the news broke.
This is good news for us Hainsey fans. This means the Habs want to see what he can do IMO. The easy solution would have been sending Hainsey down with Petrov coming back.

I think they're waiting for Quintal to get back so they can give that pair another try. Dykhuis gets scratched next game if Q is ready. Breeze/Traverse; Rivet/Markov; Quintal/Hainsey
Hainsey played pretty well last night considering he was on the right side with Dykhuis as his partner....

you have 30 days to be sent down............ . That explains the "why now". Along with Petrov returning and voila, the only solution. It srtill does not excuse why Cz and not Audette. Unless of course they need to keep Audette in top shape when he tries out for the ice dancing team. .....

Has Czerkawski improved his value over the last 30 days, enough so that somebody would claim him, and if so, should we care? Savard put him on waivers the first time around, with the assumption that somebody would, or could, take him, what has changed? Is he suddenly back in everybody's plans? Petrov coming back is significant, but I still would have kept Czerkawski around. Like you said, dump Blouin or Lindsay first. Having a $2.6 million player floating around the AHL is not only bad for the budget, but has repercussions on the farm team as well. Either by having a prospect benched (like the recently hot Michael Ryder) or by having Czerkawski poisoning the dressing room, telling scary Savard/Therrien ghost stories on the midnight bus rides to End-of-the-World, Wisconsin...

very true BC, but the only other guys who i think would clear waivers would be audette and blouin. both of which mt and as LOVE to play, blouin is mt's old buddy, and our sad excuse for a goon so they like to play him, and feel he's needed. audette i have no explaination for, other than something along the lines of what marc believes or just that he gets paid even more. either way czerkawski got sent down because we have no use for him, where they think for some reason we have great uses for blouin. lindsay would be a candidate for them to send down because they never play him, but something tells me he'd be picked up, he's a good energy 4th liner with a low budget, we scooped him off waivers last season, and i think some struggling team would love to have him right now.

Chow is gonna tear it up in the AHL. He will have lots of ice time and will be given a CHANCE by the coach. He will build up his confidence and be sent back up. MT will will then work his magic and screw him up again.

A team like, say, Nashville that dumped a contract like Dunham's could pick him up

He isn't playing..When he does..he isn't doing anything(I still think he is not used properly)What would we get for him anyways?? They should've waived him..and let some other team pick his salary up

Czerkawski in the AHL is just stupid and outlines the nightmarish players management of the HABS. A guy making 2.6mil playing in the AHL...
Chow was an error of Savard from the get go. A player we did not need in exchange of a player we could have used. To top this error, no room has ever been made to even try to make it work. Savard now has way too many trades that amounts to nothing or close to it. The team has no clear direction, it's expensive, it's badly coached and has the same glaring problems it had at the beginning of last season. Remove the Linden trade and you end up with quite a subpar GM job.
Sure the HABS have a winning record but the team gets outplayed almost every game and relies on the herioc performances of it's goalies alone. The sucess of the HABS blurs the otherwise perfectly clear picture of Savard's poor building job.
Why is our GM still around at this point is a mystery to me.... The guy obviously lives on the fumes of his Senator's day, an organization that coincidentally, never chose him as their General Manager but had him take an assistant coach job.
Someone should let Gillett know that Bob Gainey is available.

The fire Savard bandwagon is certainly filling up His next move, if he actually makes one this year, will be crucial IMO for his future as GM here. Time to for him to ''wow'' us...

More and more people are growing impatient with AS's patience. His next move needs to be a big one to prove that he can wear the big man's hat. So far, both him and MT have been playing conservatively. Here's hoping he grows some balls (Am I aloud to say that?) before it's too late.
