Does anyone know when Audette is due back? I assume he's been skating but how's the shot and the stick handling. I always thought if we can still be in the hunt by the time he returns I like our chances. Well, we're certainly in the hunt - in fact we are in control of our own destiny. Tell me he's back soon. With the offence this team has been generating we need him and soon!

Agreed. And it was mean of me to bring this up (I'm sure it's obvious I too have secret predictions gone flat in those back pages that go unmentioned). But it was frickin funny.

but really he did do very well for us last season in the playoffs. so it was "gravy" as marc stated it would be... oh how i remember the days of him scoring overtime winners in the playoffs, i was wearing a sh*t eating grins bigger than his ;D

Sorry Vic, (sorry Donald) I had to The last time I saw Audette play, he honestly didn't look like he gave a hoot. Quite honestly, as with Cwerkawski, I think Audette can still contribute, but something is distracting him big time. Who knows, he could still be distracted from the dressingroom incident earlier in the year. I could be wrong but he's playing like someone who is looking forward to a change of scenery. Heck, look at the negative attention he's been getting lately. That has to wear thin on anyone. Par for the course in either Montreal or Toronto though. Cheers.

You didn't think that I wasn't going to get in on this one. I must say that when I saw I had started this thread I was a little perplexed but quickly noted the date and was happy to see that there are some among us who go back to my old posts for the sage words which so often appear.
At the time it was posted we did need him and as it turned out his return was a blessing as he did contribute to last years playoff run. What doesn't make alot of sense is that I've thought many times this year and posted it on occassion that his hand work and his shot seem not to have recovered and are worse then the end of last year. Perhaps he was playing on inspiration last spring. He certainly isn't now.
But this leads me to another theory: perhaps he is nolonger capable of playing for MT given what went down 'in the locker room' at the end of last year. I'm not one to say get rid of the coach when a player quits (although in hindsight I think we all would have rather kept Mr. Roy over Mario) especially when it's someone like Audette but given how I feel about MT and his "system" I'm wondering if maybe we could solve a number of problems by letting MT move on. I don't think Audette is the only player who could benefit from a coaching change but then again maybe we could all benefit by giving Audette a change of scenery. It would certainly help GG's wallet.

I'll say it again...
look at his goals in the playoffs
first one: off Nick Boynton's skate(or stick?) and in. Nothing fancy
2nd goal: nifty backhander...not a wrist shot though
3rd goal: 2nd effort all the way...again no great wrist shot
4th goal: game 3, quick shot off the faceoff. One Dafoe probably wants to see again. But a quick wrist shot. Probably his best
5th goal: It was in game 5 against the Bruins. I don't remember it at all(I do remember the GWG goal by Perreault early in the 3rd though...with one hand and the Theo amazing save against Guerin!)
6th goal: similar to his 4th goal...shot off the faceoff...one Weekes probably wants to see again..
no top corner, great wrist shot there...
