well i have no idea if this is true, but "DIBIK" from fan home posts that he spoke with Bob Gainey tonight at the Canadiens game and says that Bob told him if the position became available he would be interested in coaching the Habs. DIBIK also says that Gainey spoke of this on CJAD tonight... can anyone else confirm that? citadel6.ezboard.com/fmontrealcanadiensfrm1.showMessage?topicID=662.topic

Gainey as coach Wow that would be great. Maybe he could perform a miracle and turn Perreault, Chow, Audette, Ribeiro into players that are decent in their own end.

I wonder though...would AS hire a guy to coach his team who could become his successor?

Well I think this is a real possibility that this guy had a little chat with Bob Gainey. When I walked past the booth where Gainey was signing autographs before the game, the lineup was very small, I mean maybe 10-12 people. With a line that short I'm sure he could afford to chat some with some people. On my way home from the game, on cjad they had had an interview with Gainey, and they asked him the same question and apparently he said he'd have to take out the old notebooks, but didn't say much about it, but he didn't say no.

If this is true it is a no brainer you go and get Gainey NOW! HFTO A no brainer to replace a no brainer. I love it. Come home Bob and show our forwards that hockey is not a half court game. Bring your good and great friend Robinson to teach our defensemen who is allowed in Mr. Robinson's neighborhood and how unwanted visitors are treated. Gainey reporting to Andre Savard is like Saddam Hussein reporting to Hans Blix. It ain't gonna happen!

Yeah, AS isn't nearly secure enough in his own mind to hire Gainey even as a janitor. Which is too bad, I think. Has anyone checked out Gainey's coaching record? I don't recall it being all that memorable, but that could be the dementia.

Did anyone hear of this from a credible source other than a Fanhome poster I was talking to Joe Sakic on the phone the other day and .................. Not that it isn't but it would be neat to know if it is true.
