All of a sudden he is new law man in habs land. 3 fights in 3 games against upper echelon fighters is pretty impressive. Maybe he's realizing that he needs to contribute more to retain his spot on the blueline. Or maybe he took it upon himself to start leading by example on the blueline. Or maybe MT has been slipping something into his water. Who knows what the answer is, but damn i'm impressed with the new Quintal.

i though quintal had a good game against bos & pho. nazorov should never be considered an upper echelon fighter though, i don't think the guy has ever won a fight. ;D

I don't know if anyone noticed (other than Dis) but Quintal started very slowly last season as well. Not only in the physical department, but he was literally s-l-o-w. He gained his legs somewhere along the line and was the Habs best d-man for the last 20 games or so and into the playoffs. If fighting is giving him the edge he needs to stay focused and inspired, so be it. He is a BIG man at 230 lbs and over the years I've seen him beat some other big men like McCarthy and Roy and. He doesn't get a lot of credit for being a heavyweight, but that is exactly what he is. He holds his own with anyone.

Well my foggy memory doesn't recall Quintal's start of last season, but I do remember him being very good at the end of the season and in the playoffs, jumping in the play, and being physical in his own end. Having Souray did seem to help, so Dykhuis will have to pick it up, to help Quintal or vice verse a.

i always thought of Q as being a robust dman and that's when he plays his best. i don't particularly care who he fights as long as he goes, doesn't lose to badly and helps him play better which he clearly is. there's no doubt he's a big boy and he should use it. No reason Saku should be our penalty leader.

As it has already been said...Quintal has always stood up for his teammates. I think that what we have seen lately is his way of contributing leadership. He is providing toughness and helping 5'9" forwards become almost 6ft forwards. Now if we can get that goon Koivu to drop the gloves a little more often:)

It's a good thing Quintal has started playing this way...or else he is pretty close to useless..
