Ok I was checking out his salary at NHLPA.com, (1.5M this year) and since I was there, I started looking over his stats. Wow, what's up with him? He's played 600 NHL games, and he's a career +16, and a +12 in the playoffs. He went from -23, to -5, to +9, to +16, to Even so far this year. He also had 7 goals, then 8 goals, then 5 goals, to none so far. He's only 30 years old, 6'2 210, great skater, good speed, good size, but where is the player that amassed some good numbers over the years? Want some more numbers, ok you asked for it, In '00 he played 72 games, getting 20 pts 7-13-20 46 pims -5 106 HITS and 101 blocked shots. In '01 he played 67 games, getting 17 pts 8-9-17 44 pims +9 89 Hits. I just don't get it, is he going up or down. (I know this year he's been brutal at times, but it's 30 games or so into the season, with a lot of hockey left to play). He's shown great improvement in his +/- for the last 4 years, until this year. But his phyiscal game seems lost at sea, along with any offence he seemed to be getting. Maybe he just needs a change of location. Well I was bored, and those hitting stats will boggle my mind through the night. www.nhlpa.com/Content/THE_PLAYERS/player_bio1.asp?ID=1514

He was also a highly rated 1st rounder back in the day, so he always had the tools.
Like you said, maybe he just needs a change of scenery(I hope the same for the Habs sake ;D)

I've always liked the guy myself. Good size that he doesn't use. And a great skater, but we don't see enough of it.
In short, he is an enigma wrapped in his own puzzle.

my biggest problem with dykhuis is he seems to panic under pressure, and never uses his size to his advantage. he seems to have some skills and hockey smarts, IMO he just suffers from too many brain cramps, ala rivet and quintal.

All the tools, just no toolbox...
Don't know what happened to him this year, as he seems to be playing a lot worse than he normally does, which is really, really far away from the way his skills say he should be playing.
Seems like he is not skating as much, doesn't have the same fluidity to his stride, isn't jumping into the rush at all, and is slow getting back.
Maybe he's hurt?

Yea Bad Co, really makes you wonder doesn't it. Watching him skate down the puck on an icing and he seems to be really labouring sometimes. Either that or he's completely lost his focus somehow for some reason and just can't get it back, yet anyway.

Well I just don' t understand it, 2-3 years ago he was hitting, blocking shots, and scoring goals, now he's not doing anything close to that. Good luck Savard trying to move him.

I personally prefer Traverse to Dykhuis. He is a good skater, but I think he's lost a step this year for som reason. He is a brutal passer and has no imagination with the puck at all. He must lead the league in icings. His only play is to ring the puck around the boards right to the opposing pointman. He has good size and positions himself well, but appears to have poor upper body strength as he is easily beaten to the outside. He can't seem to get any leverage against forwards going wide on him. He won't take a hit to make a play. Watch him...he's always looking over his shoulder when he goes behind the net or in the corner. The +/- figure is a bit of an anomaly. I can't explain it. No one as poor defensively and offensively as he is should have numbers like that. I think it's obvious the coaching staff has finally figured him out too. He's only getting about 14-15 minute/game lately with no PP time and little PK time .

What's wrong with ALL of you? Huh?
Don't you know that he is an Honor Student and finished with top marks in the Green Institute of Defenseman and Proctology. It’s like the apex of hockey vocational school, only better. You can actually diagnose if you played like a hemorrhoid…………
*sick*

He always had a lot of brain cramps and never got it together, which is why he's moved around so much.
Reminds me JJ Daigneault..... has all the tools, yet isn't really good at anything specific.
I find it easier to live with Brisebois or Quintal's goofs, they have a role and you can't expect them to be good at everything...

I personally prefer Traverse to Dykhuis Same here...Traverse can make a good first pass sometimes and has decent offensive skills...plus he uses his long stick effectively to break up some plays..
