Kilger getting prime minutes at even strength, and as one of our main penalty killers;
Bulis getting prime minutes at even strength, and as one of our main penalty killers;
Markov getting prime minutes at even strength, and on both special teams;
Ribeiro in limited action, surrounded by offensive players;
Audette in the press box;
Czerkawski receiving limited ice time;
Mckay, Perrault and Gilmour all accepting and playing their roles;
Quintal receiving reduced ice time;
Dykhuis receiving reduced ice time;
Hackett playing over Theodore...
Lets see... kids playing in important roles... players accepting their roles... ineffective veterans sitting on the bench, and/or seeing limited ice time... the hot goalie playing over the alleged #1...
My god! Is it possible?? Can it be... were... were... the HabsRus posters... were... were... we right??
Nah...

And we didn't get badly outshot either. Think the players feel things are 'fairer' when this type of line-up is used? Think they work harder?
Now if we could just keep it up for 60 minutes. Without seeing the game, the box score suggests that after our 4th goal, we sat back and let the Bruins come to us. Did we, or did we play defensively and then counter attack when we had the chances? It makes a difference to me. Tks.

No Savard in the dressingroom? Just asking. Cheers.

Actually, they battled after the 4th goal...it coulda easily been 6 or 7-2 or more. The defence stood up, the PK stifled the bigger, yet slow and lazy Bruins. Even with the Refs on Boston's side, the Habs showed class and went toe to toe with the dirty beantowners. I must admit , getting only 4 shots in the third looks kinda bad, but, Kilger could scored and they were a bounce or 2 away from goal #5. It was an entertaining game!

Ok here's my take on the game, and I have to say very impressive on this road trip which started out bad, as I thought they would be lucky to get 3 points.
First, lets not get to giddy, we won, but we played a bruins team that has been playing a lot of hockey over the last few days (back to back ot games, then sunday, then tonight) and they didn't show up in the first (where we could have put the game away, with 2 open nets that were missed). But the B's woke up and made a game out of it. If not for Hackett, and a very good PK, the game could have been much different. We got them on Saturday, so lets see if this team can do it again.
Now let me say, the team did play well. The defense was better, a lot for the entire team, as the netural zone was ours all night. I had to read a bunch of crap from the bruins posters at HF, saying the Markov spear was no bid deal, blah blah blah. Anyway I thought that was a bunch of crap, and the leauge should review his actions (repeat offender).
Anyway, Hackett was very good, PK was strong, (thanks for not putting Chow on the PK), the PP looked ok, our team defense had maybe their best game of the season, forwards were driving the net, Kilger was solid, Juneau line was very solid going up against one of the best players in the league, but Traverse was brutal at times, and Chow really sucks. (did anyone catch the 2 on 1 the B's had early were it went of the outside post? If not, it was Chow coming back, and then he just slows up and gives up letting the B's get a 2-1 instead of keeping his feet moving. What a bunch of crap, plus he took a dumb penalty again. I would sit him and go with Audette on the 4th line against TB, but it's not a big deal, cause I can't stand either one.
Theodore didn't look to happy on the bench, poor guy, he should go home and lay on top of his big pile of money. ;D

If a guy tries his best, I'll always appreciate his effort. Now about Berezin and Rucinsky...........................

Only got to see part of the game last night (Sopranos season finale was on). Watched the highlights though and I was very very impressed with what Les Boys did. Rock solid game, looks like MT has finally finished reading "Coaching for Dummies" and has set up some decent line combinations (that is until they get back to Montreal, then the french media will rip into him because he's not playing Rat Face).
Was over at a friends and all of the guys commented on how the habs should be kicking some butt this season with the talent they have, I agreed whole heartedly.
Then I saw the highlights and it put a huge smile on my face (especially since I said they wouldn't get a point on this road trip).
Great game by the boys in Beantown (it's always an extra treat to beat the B's, but not as much fun as beating the laffs on a Saturday night when the game is showed on CBC nationally and Bob Neale and Harry Cole are commentating (They are both dorks and this allows their names to be interchangeable)

An unexpected two points to say the least. Much as this hurts me to say it, I must call it like I see it. The team came prepared to play and actually played like a team. I have to give credit to the coaching staff, and yes, MT for this one.
Gilmour looks like he's finally found his legs. He played an excellent game. Hackett was the first, second, and third star.
As for Czerk. He played 5 minutes. Pretty tough to bash a guy when his legs are still asleep from sitting on the bench so much. Still being brutally misused.

I'll admit Gilmour, who I wanted gone ASAP and replaced by Hossa, has really picked it up.
I still think that line is slow and scary defensively but they are scoring
and how about Randy McKay? isn't it nice seeing someone scoring his goals in front of the net on the PP taking some punishment? he'll help us in the playoffs for sure.
