Oh man I wouldn't cry at all if the Habs miss out on the playoffs and maybe even get a chance at drafting this guy(through the lottery or maybe even luck like having him the teams in front of us draft someone else) www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/columnist/woodlief/2002-12-09-woodlief_x.htm6'3' 200 pounds and still growing? a right handed shooting center? can you say PERFECT fit for our future? can you say Joe Thornton clone? every aspect of his game gets an A or a B. I'll be watching Horton closely at the WJC this year fer' sure. and even if it isn't Horton...this draft is very deep. We could make the playoffs in the 8th seed and wind up with a very good prospect.

I watched this guy play on sportsnet the other day. He looks good, he shyed away from the ruff stuff a little but its understandable he had one of those jaw peices on b/c he broke his jaw in a fight so at least we know he's rough.

I'll be watching Horton closely at the WJC this year fer' sure. I'm not sure Horton is much of a lock for the WJC. I heard somewhere that he was a very late addition to the training camp roster, so he's probably a bit of a longshot to make this years club... But i do agree that a kid with that kind of size and skill (playing C is a bonus) would be great for the Habs...however this club would have to seriously go in the tank if they want a chance at the kid.

well it looks as if i'll never make the nhl, this was supposed to be my year... well, i'm a late birthday i'll be ready next year. heh... plenty of teams are looking for slow, mid sized forwards with little aggression, and average hands... average that is when you play midget A... anyways, Horton looks great, just the type of kid the habs need. hopefully we can get a hold of him some how.

Well I'm all for tanking it. This team isn't going anywhere in the playoffs anyway, even if they make it that far. It wouldn't even make a difference if they still had that dynamo Asham. Maybe that's Savard's secret plan- keep MT as coach so the team tanks and he gets a shot at a top draft pick. Now there's a reason to keep playing Audette 20 minutes a game! ;D

Well I doubt it goes that bad where we could have a shot at Horton (top 3 pick) but anything in the top 10 would be very good. Steve Bernier from Montcon sounds good. Robert Nilsson from Leksand SEL, Thomas Vaneck from UMinnesota, or Richard Stelick all sound like real good picks, IMO. The draft is my one of my favorite times of the year, and its about 6 1/2 months away, in Nashville.

not saying horton won't be good, but there's a ton of good looking prospects gonna be available come draft day. i would love if AS could get us another 1st rounder, some sort of player + 2nd rounder for 1st rounder trade.

I'd even deal a Balej to get another 1st rounder. Maybe even a Plekanec.

Balej for a 1st rounder in a strong draft? Where do i sign?? I'd think even a kid like Marc would have figured out that Plekanec or Balej, or even both, just aren't worth a 1st rounder. It's funny how people think a 3d rounder is worth nothing, then when the guy has a name and skates a bit in camp, his value inflates to being worth a 1st rounder.... So PR, I'd sign that deal do, without hesitating for a second.

So PTH have you been talking with NHL GM's these days asking them what it would cost to get a 1st rounder?

Well, if it's a strong draft year, you can expect other GMs to want quite a bit to trade down. It's not as if our GM were the only one to see what's a good draft year and what isn't.

So PTH have you been talking with NHL GM's these days asking them what it would cost to get a 1st rounder? Marc, use your head for a second before hitting "post" - I know you like to see your post total inflate to around 12 billion, but you can still post something with meaning. Both these guys were 3d round picks and neither has really done anything all that special to date - would you move a 1st for two 3ds (ie, picks lower than #70) in a strong draft year ? Of course not. And you were suggesting just one of these for a 1st rounder... You don't need to talk to NHL GMs to have a clue about player value. Hiding behind "Well, I haven't seen YOU talking to GMs recently" is a really, really cheap excuse.

If somebody offered a 1st rounder for Traverse would you do it? of course...but no one has offered it. No need for any personal insult btw

No need for any personal insult btw Marc, first you suggest making a laughable offer, and after I say it's laughable you shoot me down as if your offer made sense. If you thought the offer made no sense and was just a trial "just to see, you never know", then why bash my thoughts about the offer making no sense ? ie, if you agreed with me, why did you go and take the cheap, childish "hey what do you know, I talk to GMs as much as you do" route ?
