Great game by Hackett. The game should have been a blowout but we got the 2 points and that's all that counts.
Nice to see us settle down defensively. Ribeiro had a good game. Nice to see Zed and Kilger pot one each.

Somehow Gilmour and Perrault still ended up at -2 each which means Yan just passed ratdog for worst +/- on the team but oh well.

good game by the habs. took the wind out of phoenix early, and outside of a rivet brain cramp, it wasn't even close. i hope hackett starts against boston, he just looks so good. if his trade value isn't improving every time he goes out, there is something wrong in the universe!!!!!!!

Pho is one of the worst teams I've seen this year. Not to take anything away from how we played but once we got the lead they just folded. Savage is horrible.
As for the boys I like the line up as it gives us four lines who can potentially score and as the game goes on the coach, if we had one, would be able to see which line or players are on and play them.
This leads me to my biggest complaint of the game. Ribs barely played in the 3rd. I need an explanation. He plays his best game of the season in the first two periods, ends the game with 2 points and a +3, according to AS and anyone who follows this team knows he needs ice time to get back into the flow, we have a 3 goal lead, playing back to back nights and some of the warriors ( Saku, Zed, Juneau) could use some rest yet MThead lets Ribs sit ( I believe he played 3 mins in the 3rd) and has Saku out there when the coyotes start their goon show. The same point could be made of Cz altho he didn't have the game Ribs did he should be given ice in these kinds of games. We know he has talent and MT has to find out how to get it out. So he plays Saku some more. The irony of all this is that the win prolongs this morons coaching status.
I'm starting to get the feeling that we can not lose when Kilger and Mckay play well. We can count on Saku and Zed as well as Juneau's line on most nights to show up. When Kilg and Mck with their size show up we have a pretty solid team with the exception of Dyk and Traverse. At least Dyk only got 13 mins but how does Trav get 23 mins. He is horrible.

Well that was a good game, glad to get the win. But we still got one more tough one left, before they head back home. To me the difference in the game, was Hackett early on. The Coyotes were playing well at first on the PP, and our PK and Hackett shut them down, and then their goalie fell apart (3 goals on 10 shots, ouch) Good game for Hackett, Ribeiro (+3 He's now even on the year, holy cow), Kilger I thought had a better game, the defence played much better as the team was clogging up the netural zone, and shut down the Coyotes offence. Quintal dropping the gloves, against 2 of the tougher guys in the league takes a lot of guts. PP had good puck movement, and the PK continued to improve. Bad game, Perreault, when they go on the road, they should just leave Yanic at home. Chow was floating, but what else is new, Rivet what the hell was that. You see thats my biggest complaint about our defence. Just what in the hell was he thinking. It's near the end of the game, with a 3 goal lead, and he's trying to go up the middle. Craig, this is when you do the Rick Green shuffle and throw that damn puck off the boards. We are good on faceoffs, so in a situation like that you have to use your head, a total Dykhuis/Brisebois play if I ever saw one. Yuck.

As said, solid goaltending kept it even until the boys got some chances when they put them in. Keep playing Hackett. Theo the "cakeman" (or whatever he's advertising) can sit until he's needed.
This lineup seemed to make some sense. Well... except for Gilmour on LW and I dunno what your'e going to do about that. But Kilger seems to bring something to Koivu's line and McKay needs to play to get him contributing. Looks after the little guys on the line too. Ribs with Czerk and Petrov makes some sense, ie Ribs needs skilled players to make the most of his skills and Czerk needs to play. Their line played about 10 minutes which wasn't bad considering they sat out most of the 3rd. That kind of made sense to me since this is probably the team's worst defensive line. MT is going to have to keep them away from bruisers, though, or they could get killed. Juneau's line did its thing.
This time they figured out that they had to play hard during the 1st period (instead of after the 1st, when they were behind) and so took advantage of opportunities to get ahead. They need to keep doing that.
And the PK worked tonight. They need to keep that up too.

Vichab, The Habs are already playing a kid like Markov a ton why should they even think of playing another one with a 3 goal lead in the third I sincerely hope to god Yanic Perreault leaves after next year. You don't win cups with Yanic Perreault's as your 2nd line center.

Marc the leafs found out the hard way that you can't win a cup with Yanic as your second line center as they had some chances when he was there. I think AS knows this but he is an upgrade from what we had before and can't argue with his face off %. He's the kind of guy you can tell early in the game (usually at home) if he is on with his offensive game in which case play him. Otherwise play him sparingly unless you have a key faceoff. that's ok in the offensive zone but if it's in our end and he loses the face off - look out. in fact with our D even if he wins the face off in our end - look out.

Agree for now he works
But if the Habs want to win a cup like before 2010, they can't possibly think of re-signing him after next year.
Same thing for guys like Audette, Petrov, even Chow...you can't win a cup with guys like that as your top 6 forwards
