Was it 17 who said Asham would outscore Chow this year?
4 to 2 so far...each has an empty netter..so 3 to 1 for Asham..
Ouch. Chow better pick it up and Asham better not emerge as a Mike Keane clone because the deal looks bad now and it could look real bad if things keep on going like this

Huh ? How can you in any way evaluate a trade if you don't look at what players do elsewhere ? It's not as if the only guys worth tracking were the stars....

I was going to say that h&c does make a good point about relative playing times. Looking into it, however, it's not quite so clear cut. Asham has played in 22 games this season, I would guess playing a regular shift on the same line. (Correct me if I'm wrong) Czerk has played 19 games, being bounced all over hell's half acre. He has 2 more points than Asham. I would still say, though, that Czerk really hasn't been given a proper chance. If he had been playing regularly as Koivu's RW I expect that he'd have a fair number more points. He's a streak scorer so sooner or later he'll start puting them in.
Then you'd have Czerk doing what he's supposed to do, same with Asham.

Yep that was me, in one of my more optimistic moods. In all fairness to Czerk, he's being handled by a jerk. But did you notice that one of Asham's goals was on the PP? And his 3rd goal the other night against Vancouver was a bullet wrister over Cloutier's left shoulder? He's a much better scorer than most people on this board gave him credit for. And couldn't we use his toughness and grit? Well, we have Marius now, and we're using him as much as Arron last year. BTW, Asham averaged 10 mpg before the last 2 games.

Well Asham is doing the same thing he did here. He's good in streches, but never the same player night after night. Ok, he's gotten 3 goals in 2 games. But I saw his interview (I have NHL center ice) and they were saying that he was close to getting released on waivers, and his recent goal scoring streak has kept him in the lineup. And about his toughness and grit, yea we got Marius (who I hate) but if Savard doesn't make the deal, do you think Asham would be scoring any goals from the press box, cause that's where he would be, with Jason Ward as his replacement. (who's bigger and works harder) oh yea, we would still have an extra 5th rounder too. (hey the last time we had 2 5th rounders we got M-A-Thinel and Matt Shasby 145th, 150th )

Here we go again with Hab fans mourning lost garbage.
I watched the Leafs-Isle last night from my 60 inch TV in my bathroom (in case I had to throw up). From what I saw, Asham had the two goals but he was far , far away from one of the better players on the ice. Plus his puck movement on the PP sucked. His physical presence was sporadic.
Maybe if we had a half-wit as a coach instead of MThead, we would see the players real potential. However trivial that may be. It's hard to score goals, chew ice cream and be a press box chair warmer, all at the same time.

Ward and a 5th is better than the current Chow in my books! ;D

Yep that was me, in one of my more optimistic moods. In all fairness to Czerk, he's being handled by a jerk. I honestly feel Czerkawski just doesn't want to be in Montreal any longer. He has no motivation or desire to play nowadays, mainly because of the way he's been treated and possibly the way he's being preceived by others. And judging by the effort some of his teammates have been putting out, I'd say he isn't alone. Cheers.

Either way, the fact Arron freakin' Asham is outscoring him 5 to 2 is simply embarassing.
Keep in mind, Asham has also seen the pressbox and 4th line this year.

Chow better pick it up and Asham better not emerge as a Mike Keane clone because the deal looks bad now and it could look real bad if things keep on going like this Milbury knew what he was getting in Asham, and he knew what he was "dumping" when he moved Czerkawski. Asham brought a measure of toughness and sandpaper to his game, while Czerkawski's salary was a major factor in he moving I believe. But, as much as I like seeing Asham getting a better chance to play, I hated seeing him leave Montreal just the same. I'll be honest, I though Asham would have scored a few more goals by now, just on remotivation. But, I'll be even more honest with you guys. I'm quite happy Asham is doing as well as he is right now. He wasn't brought in to Long Island as a goal-scorer, but he's doing what the Islanders wanted from him. Czerkawski, on the other hand, hasn't had a fair chance, which is something Asham can relate to as well. Cheers.

Here we go again with Hab fans mourning lost garbage. Asham or Czerkawski? If Savard's going to trade for a guy and MT's going to sit him, I consider that a waste. Perhaps that 5th round choice is going to be the best player in that deal.

Asham's got two more points (and counting?) tonight. He appears to be playing on a line with Mike Peca and Brad Isbister...
