It's not going to be an easy road back from this one I guess. If our board is at odds about this situation imagine how it must be in the dressingroom.
Unfortunately we can single out players, point fingers, blame, blame, blame, but consider this; why would any player in the NHL want to play for a disorganization like this? Who in their right mind would want to play in an evironment like that? Leaving foolishness out of it, it just wouldn't be healthy for anyone.
On that premise, I think we can honestly forget the team-saving trades.
As for the players in the locker room right now, they are being tight-lipped about this fiasco, at least publicly. But, they have their cliques and are rebelling nonetheless; and that's on the ice.
It's hard to say exactly, but after receiving absolutely no takers from every team in the league on either Czerkawski and Audette, clearing waivers may have been the last attempt by Savard to rid himself of them. Things could be, and probably are, that bad.
The worse possible fallout from this could be that there might be more players following the same path as these two.
I'm not saying I'm right, but those are the perceptions I'm getting. And your right, BC, it's embarassing.
Bummer! Cheers.

It truly is a shame especially snce they got back on track last year.It is beyond me that many of us understood that they over achieved and that with a few moves which also involved getting a real choke this team could continue to progress.as it stands it looks like we are back where we stood two years ago and maybe be worse off in the short term with a lame coach and too many similar players. The only real option for Savard to save himself is to replace Therrien and see if an experienced coach can at least make them challenge for a playoff spot, until this organization allows some of the kids to show their stuff. I am really saddened by this mess. HFTO

Dis excellent post and i'm prepared to drown my sorrow's in moosehead if this isn't showing any signs of repair by New Year's you wanna Join me. Team Saving trades are a distant memory for me right now the only solution as you said is a new coach. I've mentioned this before but feel like saying it again by mentioning what middle management does. I've had many middle management roles and have noticed that the fesces doesn't flow down as they say. The grunt worker's see the fesces but all middle manager's know that production floors are made of a special deflective surface that causes the fesces to bounce up but only as high as the middle manager's. Coaches do the same IMO. If they are not running a proper team utilizing it's appropriate asset's well those human asset's get peeved and it show's in their production. The fact many of them are not in their appropriate places makes Savard's job harder because he needs to acquire pieces to fix the broken parts of the team. How is he to do this when the existing pieces aren't in the right places The cycle never ends until the appropriate middle management does an effective job. HFTO Last year was the Theo show with a season ending Saku returning show. Back on track well maybe but i think it was just the team coming together for one of it's own at the end and for the rest of the year it was Theo saving us. The 65 or more games we got outshot in (most of which we're significantly ) leads me to believe the track we we're on had 60 rails.

I think all of us would feel a little better if the payroll was half what it is. Seeing that high and seeing the team we have just makes me want to
