From RDS

Not going to the minors for now is the last line of that message.
So a big fuss for nothing eh?

only one way to get our money's worth with this guy. play him, not just 7 minutes a game, 15+. it seems no one wants our overpaid garbage so maybe it's about time savard takes a risk and deals a player that actually has some value, freeing up a spot in the line up for chow, so he can actually play. i'm not saying part with zed, koivu, bulis or markov by any means. that would be a mistake, but if no one wants audette or czerkawski because of their contracts and production well maybe AS should think of moving someone with a lower salary.

Other than RDS, none is reorting this.. I checked TSN, THEscore.ca, Spectors and even the Montreal Gazette - not one word about Czerkawski on waivers. Is it posible that he was not on the waiver wire?

Wow no one wants Chow, no one wants Audette, no one wants Garon. Anyone really surprised?
As for playing Chow, no way screw him. He wants to be traded, so we should alter our lineup for him? A guy that has shown no effort or hard work since he's been here. Sure. Sorry, but I don't like Chow, cause he never works hard, and gives little effort. I never want to see him in the lineup, but guess you got to play him at some point.
The only problem I have with this mess is that Chow shouldnt be on the PK, and I still don't understand that one. Who picks the PK players, Therrien or Charron? Cause somebody was trying to play Chow were he don't belong.

I'm gonna guess that he'll be traded very shortly, maybe in the next few days. Probably for a late round pick, or that oft-travelled player, Future Considerations. I also expect that Montreal will be picking up a portion of his salary in the meantime.
Kind of like the Jason Wooley-to-Detroit deal, in my opinion.
That's my guess anyways.

If you are going to eat salary and get nothing why trade him? Try him out or wait for an injury. What is he goiung to do, sit out? Great, he will not get paid for it. Actually, it's the best thing for the Hab's.

Same thing could happen here.

YES!!! Let's hope Dubé is right!! Hainsey welcome back!! hell even Bouillon can come back and I would be happy! Well Bouillon is still injured, but not far away from returning, I think, as I know he started skating. But Hainsey would be my pick. I would like to see them sit Dykhuis for a game or two and let Hainsey try his luck with Rivet or Brisebois. I would go with Rivet, but I don't care as long as Dykhuis sits for a little or forever. But I would be shocked if Chow gets sent down. Man he would hate that. What a kick in the pants. They should do that to Audette next. I would pay to see the look on their faces when Savard tells them to pack their bags and get a pair of headphones, cause the bus rides are a lot longer in Hamilton. ;D

i have seen nothing on the news, on the wire or on TV about Cz and waivers. I say it hasn't happenned as the wire always has these no names mentioned to be on waivers or being sent down or called up and even moved from one semi-pro club to another. although he may be playing like one Cz is not a no name and i can't believe that no one outside some Mtl media have picked this up. By the way i have seen stories on the wire about Cz wanting to be traded. i say he has not been put on waivers and obviously hasn't cleared them.
where does this put us? i think we are in a better position as it means that there is a hope that there is some sucker gm who may want Cz. AS better search this gm out and strike the deal as Cz is just going to pout now unless MT is given the boot which can't happen soon enough but won't. Normally i don't have alot of time for a habby who asks to be traded especially a floater but in fairness to Cz i don't think he has been given a fair chance with MT.

Marc I hate to be a doubting Thomas but when I click on the Gazette story you posted it says " Story No Longer Available". There is something very strange about this. Anyway, i suppose it doesn't really matter as if he was on waivers, he wasn't claimed. It just means AS options are fewer although perhaps the best thing that could happen is a few more losses before Cz goes anywhere and then a new coach who can try his luck or maybe even skills to ice a good lineup. MT sure can't.

what exactly would happen if savard sent them both to the minors? i don't think either would go... but if no other team wants them it's mostly because of their salaries i think. is there any way to void your contract if both sides agree on it? like if we wanted to get rid of them, and they didn't want to play in the minors could they just become free agents, and sign with another team with a new contract? i'm sure in this day and age and by the way these two guys play they would just go home and take their pay, but if there was a player like this who loved the game enough to play somewhere else for less could they?

I don't think there's anything in the contracts themselves that prevent the player from being sent to the minors, but it's not a good idea and it won't happen. All you do is screw up whatever good thing you've got going in Hamilton, and it's not like Czerkawski or Audette is going to take it as an opportunity to work on their game....In order for the player not to be in breach of his contract I think he'd have to report. But again, I don't see them doing this to either player.
To buy out a contract usually requires you to pay about 75% or more of the remaining contract amount in a lump sum, and to gross it up for income tax paid if it's all income in one year. It's an expensive solution. In Audette's case I would guess they'd have to hand him a cheque for something like 6.5 million us dollars today in order to be rid of him. The player becomes an unrestricted free agent and that's the end of it. Again, this is unlikely to happen, at least for the time being.
The more likely scenario is that a trade will be worked out for one of these two (probably Czerk, whose more attractive). It may be something like this:
To NYR: Hackett and Czerkawski To MTL: Kloucek
Nice deal, right? Not so fast. I imagine that we'd pay something like a million of Czerk's salary this year and a million and a quarter next year. NYR get him cheap. We pay. The Rags would happily pay the rest of this last year on Hackett's contract, but who knows, they might insist we bite some of that also.

Hmmm, let's see. We keep Audette, he never regains his scoring touch and every time the coach benches him he becomes a cancer.
First I'd offer Audette a decent buy out because, after all, it wasn't his fault his arm almost got sliced off. (Not the full amount he's entitled to because the Habs didn't know he would be damaged beyond repair either) Maybe a job as a good will guy for the Habs too. But if he balked at this I'd send Audette to the minors in a flash. If he didn't report and if he was in breach of contract turn it over to the lawyers and forget about it.
For the life of me I cannot see the sense in trading Czerk, even if he is more tradeable, but keeping a guy in Audette who you know will never be able to do anything ever again in this League.
