I see a lot of similarities between the Habs and 'Nucks. The difference is that the Canucks are built for offense and have a coach that can coach an offensive game properly. ... MOREGreat piece Shane...much appreciated! CO

Good stuff.
I like the Vancouver analogy. Lots of NHL time invested in youngsters and a great coach to bring them along. It pays off. There is no other way to build a team.

So Shane, when will your dad be ready?
As soon as he is call me and I'll arrange some mysterious disappearance. Actually, why kidnap Therrien? All one has to do is lure him to a train track with a trail of burritos and then, with some careful timing, play catch in front of a speeding train. Whenever I read about the Hab’s these days, I can not stop to think that they are coached by the very definition of coaching incompetence.
Thank you Mr. habaroni and cheese (with ketchup) for that great read.

Good stuff. I like the Vancouver analogy. Lots of NHL time invested in youngsters and a great coach to bring them along. It pays off. There is no other way to build a team. Good article Shane. But there is a difference. Vancouver are BIG. Bertuzzi, Linden, Chubarov(hell even the Sedin's are 6'1' and 6'2') all play prominent roles up front and on defence holy cow are they big. Jovo, Malik, Ohlund, Sopel, Baron, Salo and Allen. Habs don't have key players that big(saddly). Also, Brian Burke doesn't stand pat when things are going bad. He makes changes ASAP, especially to his supporting cast. The stars stay the same, the guys helping them change, which is a good thing IMO. But the offensive system point is excellent.

good read! i agree about, the wrong coach for the job!!! as far as AS goes, i still believe in his game plan, and figure he's got a couple more years before a true evaluation of him can be done.

Heck, I'd give him a week and he could out coach MT. Great read, Shane!

Very well said, Shane. You hit the mark on numerous points.
Therrien is plain brutal. Savard -- well I like him, but his fate could be intertwined with MThead, as Paul once said.

What's with the sudden writing surge first Dis now you. I wonder if some riookie writer sparked an old flame or something. Not that i'm trying to imply anything here either This board is much better than any other on the net because of guy's like you, Rick, Phil and all the writer's who make this the crown jewel of hab sites. Actually it's the Maurice "Rocket" Richard of Habs sites. Simply the Best.

Your dad seems to have found what motivational technique works best. Whether a butt-kicker, a collaborator, or persuader, he got results. I've had to read about Therrien's mistakes because I just don't get to see him in as many games as I would have liked to these days. But, yet again, the evidence seems to be greatly against him. ...wonder if Therrien plays the pipes The Vancouver reference works for me as well, Shane. Draft the young talent, allow it to progress and be patient. Nice job, Shane. Thanks. Cheers.

Thanks for the nice words guys. To be honest with you i've rarely set out to write an article. I've only started replying to a post and had it turn into a long, slightly intelligent piece so have decided to put a little extra effort in to turn it into a bonafide story.
Bye the way, my dad would still kick MT's butt.
