This may be a totally ridiculous theory ... but ... maybe the Habs organization did not want to be the first one to fire a coach this season, seeing how they are so sensitive to public perception. Admitting a mistake is something the curren torganization, led by Savard, has a hard time doing.
maybe now that 2 guys have been canned, well MT's head may be on the choppping board now ... just maybe ...

Don't we play something like 13 of the next 17 games on the road?
Make or break time for not only the season, but for Therrien's career, in my opinion...

Then AS will have an excuse beyond incompetence. I hate to be this way but i sure as heck hope we don't continue to get bailed out by goaltending. It is hiding the realities of this team and it is slowly becoming more and more frustrating to watch.

Well this month we play 14 games, and 10 are on the road, but it's this 4 game road trip that should leave a bad taste in everyones mouth, as I would be shocked if they win more then 1 game.

This 4 game roadtrip is like Molson's Canadian. It leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth! MT should have been fired a long time ago. Now AS is stuck with him. It's like sending Hans Blix to Iraq and later complaining that he couldn't find a piranah in a goldfish bowl. Once you pick him, endorse him and go along with his decisions, it's hard to complain when things go wrong that it's his fault. It wasn't Houles fault that he didn't know how to be a good GM. He tried. He shouldn't have been hired in the first place.

I'll be rooting like crazy but the way things look our season will be toast come January. With the schedule it will take a miracle to stay in the race. AS should have made some sort of move a month ago if he intended to keep AS as coach. Come January it will be too late. HFTO

Can't see it happening at this point. Waiving Czerk is a vote of confidence in the coach, because obviously MT had no use for him.
I really can't afford to lose anymore hair watching this team and coach. It seems pretty obvious to 90% of the posters on this board that Therrien has no clue. Our record, just like last year, is an extremely deceiving one, due largely to goaltenders standing on their heads. What a mess!!!

Reminds me of what happened in Calgary.Button traded Savard for not much and gave a vote of confidence to Gilbert and the team played even worse after and goodbye Greg!. Just change the words Button with Savard, Savard with Chow and Gilbert with Therrien ;D

Yes but....the only problem is that Savard would have to find someone to replace him with. Maybe not so easy right now. And I'm not so sure that it won't take some more pretty poor performances with a bad record to match from this team for AS to put the boot to MT as I wonder how much support MT has from others in the organization. Like maybe Boivin who picked him in the first place and maybe who wanted to keep him after last springs heroics. This isn't based on anything, just me speculating and ruminating on my experiences with organizational politics. Just to say, whatever we think of AS, we probably ought to remember that Savard probably isn't the only player in this melodrama.
As far as putting Czerk on waivers I wonder how much Savard's reaction was based on Czerk's agent going public on demanding a trade if indeed that's what did happen. I'm only guessing based on the fact that the team organization per se has shown itself to be pretty closed mouthed when it comes to player movement matters. And old AS has shown himself to be pretty miserably inclined towards "disloyal" players.
