George Gillette must be happy and a smart man, buying a team with the greatest fan base in all of sports. Check out these attendance numbers through 22 games. Very impressive being #2 behind the cup winning wings. sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance?sort=home_avg&year=2003 edit, sorry messed up the link, should be there now.

The numbers are great, but slightly misleading. Yes, number two overall (based on absolute numbers)...but if you look at capacity filled %, the numbers tell another story. Namely, despite the high attendance numbers at the Bell Centre, you'll still be able to get a ticket to the game -- compare this to other cities like Detroit, Toronto, Colorado, Minnesota and Dallas who have 100% or better attendance.

I wish they would show the numbers, not of seats sold, but of people who actually came to the games. Alot of those numbers would go down...

haha, yeah, you're right about... but teams make a ton on concessions sales and providing us with the figures of who actually attends the game would give us a real indication of the state of the sport's popularity.

To see how many "fans" at the ACC actually are sitting at the start of the second and third periods...the lower bowl is almost always near empty come that time.

That freaks you out eh?
The fans are ''business people'' who go into their corporate boxes and smoke a few cigars and drink a few cold ones in between periods.

Yep, I figured as much...that's why I put "fans" in quotes like I did. It just seems in TO that the number is higher than in other rinks...I remember reading somewhere that of the existing NHL rinks, the Leafs have one the highest corporate counts...less real fans than anywhere else

and it shows with the noise they make. Man the ACC can be a boring place during a game.
Maybe if you chant 1967 1967 1967 that will get them going ;D
