Thats great for the west coasters. I love not being able to see a great game. Whats up with the goals against?? To me that is the one glaring stat that i see, our defence and/or goaltending is not good this year. We should be top 10, i don't even think we're top 20.

Nice to see the habs pull it out. ;D Can someone please explain to me why Quintal is out there killing penalties? He shouldn't be playing five on five let alone 4on3 or 5on4. No speed, no jump, no hands and always 2-3 steps behind.

Am I the only one that found that game pretty disgusting to watch, from a hockey point of view?
Yeah we won, great, nice 2 points. But all those penalties were just stupid. That wasn't a physical game, there was no need for all those penalties. If that's the new NHL then I don't like it.
There was absolutely no flow to that game, it was just a matter of last goal wins (literally). Had they played all night the goals would have just kept coming.
I don't know...to me that's just not hockey like it's supposed to be. It's great we capitalized on all our chances, but there was no flow to the 5 on 5 game.

Well, we haven't had a shootout in a while so it was nice to watch.

not often are we gonna pull out a win when we allow 4 power play goals. too many stupid penalties tonight (granted the ref's totally screwed up on a bunch of them as they always do ) and lemieux's goal was really cheap, looked like he totally kicked that one in on purpose, but we got yanic's last weekend, so oh well.

holy crap...we are now 5th in our conference.
With a couple of moves(Big body on LW on 2nd line) and some improvements on D...this team could go somehwere..

I have to agree with Ryan on this one. If you looked at a guy the wrong way tonight, you were in the sin bin for 2. Makes for a lot of goals and display of offensive skills, but it totally detracts from any kind of grinding punishing game. Also makes it hard to get 4 lines involved in the game.
Great game by the heart and soul, Koivu. Audi has been stepping up his play, presumably (I hope) as Savard hoped. Tough to trade a player that has 0 points. Hopefully it's a case of showcasing him to show other teams there is at least some value in a beat up Audi.

In the Pre game show on CJAD it was very interesting to hear Therrien talk about Discipline for the majority of his segment and many other player's followed this same theme. Obviously the player's we're all talk tonight and so was MThead(as usual) considering the event's that transpired during the game. Considering the words he harped on before game time and the reaction to his sentiment's on ice by his player's. When the Heck is AS gonna get a clue and fire this guy. wether it's the player's or his fault(i know you'll be catching this montreal )the coach has to go the player's are simply not responding to the guy fire the coach bring in someone that the player's will respond to and if they don't then the option is simple for AS start moving player's.

Go Habs!

Wow holy PP goals batman. 9 total goals, 7 on the PP, 1 SH (our 1st of the year), and the 1 ot 4-4 winner. I thought the refs were way to whistle happy. Then on the one Pitt goal in the 3rd, Dykhuis get's tripped, no call then they score. Ok refs, whatever you say. Anyway, wasn't that Koivu's first hattrick? I havent' read any posts yet, except this one. Great night for him. Also glad to see those floodgates open up for Audette, as he could of had even more, as he got stoned on a great shot where Hedberg made a glove save. Bulis also was very good tonight, as their line seemed to be on the ice all night. Zednik was good as well. Gilmor, McKay, Lindsay, Kilger, didn't do much, IMO. Wonder if we see Ribs and Petrov on wednesday. Poor Theo he was just getting his gaa and save & back to something normal, and then he goes and gives up 4. Oh well a wins a win.

Good Point MP but remember Ottawa is behind us only because we've played 3 more games than they have they are 8 6 and 1, 3 points back with three games at hand to be honest i figured it would be us and Ottawa 1 and 2 in the division. If the b's don't slow down it'll be third or possibly 4th. I know the leafs are stinking the joint out but they still are a threat.
I'm not ready to start exclaiming greatness after an undisciplined o/t victory versus the penguins let's see us put together a nice 6 or 7 game winning streak then i'll get my hopes up. I'd be happy with win 2 lose 1 for the rest of the year. the odd lose 2 win 1 thrown in as long as we are 5 or 6 games over 500 and can stay there we'll lock up a spot no problem. Right now we are 2 games over with alot of question marks and games yet to play.

I found tonights game utterly disgusting. There were too many calls and bad calls at that. I mean can't the referees let a player go for something done at the other side of the rink. Too often tonight they made calls that they shouldn't have made and that not only hurt the flow of the game 5 on 5(as some of you have mentioned) but actually destroyed the game in a 5 on 5 sense. It was basically like the teams were taking turns at the powerplay. If this trend contiues the NHL will have to do something about it or see Hockey turn into a game where the best powerplay squad will win every game.Istead of looking at shots for and against we will be looking at powerplays for and against. Not only that but players will become afraid of hitting and as a result we will see the game of hockey diminished to the no contact pee-wee version of the game. To eliminate this problem i think that the NHL should either bring back last year's rule interpretations or at least eliminate on of the 2 referees.(one ref will surely miss calls allowing for less obvious infractions to be unseen)Basically the NHL should realize that more powerplays aren't the solution to the leagues scoring woes.If the league wants scoring to go up maybe they should kiss goodbye some precious revenue and finally enlarge the rinks surface in order to accomodate today's bigger players.Or maybe they should ban those bed mattresses that goalies call pads.Or maybe still they should contract 16 teams so that the local zamboni driver won't have a realistic chance of one day suiting up for an NHL team.
I just had to let that out after wathcing tonight's "special" hockey game.Sorry if it was incoherent but I'm kinda tired now and i'm definately not in the mood to reread what I wrote and make corrections to it.

The coaching staff is brutal and nothing will really change until they're gone. You could give us Forsberg and Foote right now and we still wouldn't be that much better. I'm happy with Saturday's game, last night was a joke though. Theo's not there yet, and we've still got all the problems we did after Friday's loss.
