Rumours from Phoenix say Brian Savage is on the trading block, personally i think the 'yotes basically stole him from us, and i'd love to see him back wearin' the bleu, blanc, et rouge. Although a streaky scorer, Savage was great for us during the low budget late 90's. Just wondered what you guys thought about this....

His contract is about as bad as Audette's, and he doesn't give you much more.
I want Audette taken out and shot, and I basically think we don't need Brian to fill a niche that's already overflowing with players - ie, soft, uni-dimensional players with "potential" who get 20 goals when things work out.
The only thing he'd bring this team is that he's a LW and we are overflowing with RW's.... but if we're gonna give someone a chance, let it be someone new and fresh.

oh yeah, good point, i didn't even think to look up his contract, and it's huge. 3.25 mill for him is overpriced. i'd still like to get him, only if he took a cut though...

I say nay. Size at forward and a Quintal sized defenceman with a brain and a mean streak, not another medium sized forward that makes over 3 mil that disappears for even longer stretches than Chow.

I liked BS when he played for us and he gave us some good years. but that was then. we are going in a different direction now and I don't think he would help. And he is way over priced. We need a big forward or a sniper and preferably both in one. BS is neither and i don't see it improving our team except for a few weeks every now and then when he hits one of his streaks. no thanks. Been there.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Please no, not Savage. Whats next bring Rustinky back too. Urgh Thanks a lot now I'm going to have nightmares for sure. I can see it now, we're on the PP, Czerkawski to Perreault to Petrov to Audette to Savage, and he's ready to shoot, oh no they lost the puck and the other team turns around and no one backchecks as they are all tieing their laces talking about who can do a better spin o rama Petrov or Czerkawski, and the other team scores another SH goal, but the guys on the ice don't seem to mind, but why would they with those fat pay checks. Guess they forgot there's two sides in a rink. ;D

Good player, but definitely doesn't suit our needs right now. I just can't believe how many people say he sucks now after so many predictions of 40 goal breakout seasons.
Also, I really hope we learn our lesson about aquiring veterans in the 20-30 goal scoring range that are one-dimensional. Berezin, Audette and Czerkawski have all been lateral moves whereas the acquisition of guys like Juneau, Gilmour, Bulis, Zednik and Dackell are prime examples of getting guys for cheap that are much more well-rounded.
I say the next big trade should be for a high draft pick or a young talent(I've heard Frolov's name mentioned).

No, no, please no. I will do anything NOT to see Salvage in a Hab’s uniform again. I will clean toilets, change diapers on baby chicks, wash windows at the local brothel, anything….
People have short memories about Salvage. Why was he sent packing? Because he floated worse the Audi and Chew combined. Sure he would score a bunch of goals and tease us but that would last long enough to get the next contract and maybe then we would see that potential. A year later, same thing, over and over. No thank you. He is going to be traded for a 3rd rounder to some fool who will “unlock” Salvages potential. “Potential”, the 3 million dollar word.
By the way, what happened to this board yesterday? I have not seen it this quiet since the last time we all went searching for Herbie Hancock, Spiro’s pet hamster. Sheesh…..

I'd take him back if they threw Shane Doan in the deal otherwise I'd pass. Never look back we've been guilty of doing that one too many times. HFTO
