Philly: kicked our butts by ATTACKING Blues: kicked our butts by ATTACKING Devils: kicked out butts by ATTACKING
Am I missing something here? why do trap teams all of a sudden decide to go for it against the Habs? don't you guys find this weird? looks like the whole league knows the way to beat us is by forechecking us to death and pin us in our own end.

Could it be because they have...ahh.....coaches? Coaches whi see the others team weakness and exploit it? Teams that listen and respect their coach and play how thay are suppose to? Then again I could be wrong.

Well, its so easy... Teams must love playing us... Soft on the boards, so you don't have to worry about getting smacked around, but you can still hit at will, slow up front and on the defense, so you don't have to worry about getting caught if you push down low, and with no break out whatsoever, so you always have control of the puck. Every player gets three or four shots toward the net, and free reign to roam at will.... That's fun hockey. For them anyways.

The reason trap teams are boring, is that they play the defensive part of that system to the letter, remember the panthers in their first years with Roger Neilson, they played that way, scored first and then nursed the lead, closed up center ice, and then put 2 points in their pockets and went on to the next game, that is boring. Other trap teams that play it in order to create turn overs in the neutral zone and went on the attack. The Devils during the years when Jacques Lemaire was coach would play the trap to a key, they won the Stanley Cup in 95 doing that, and put Scotty and the wings in their pockets. The Habs used that system in 93 when they won the cup, of course Lemaire had helped Demers mastermind it and sell to the players.
Dallas won the cup in 99 with that system, the devils in 2000, colorado in 2001 and the wings this year. one thing you must understand, you must have for one the offensive power to make it work, two, good communication between the forwards and defense, and of course a good goalie. The Habs could play that system, but there is no real offensive power and there is no real communication between the defense and forwards and that is why they get out shot, out muscled and often out scored early in games and can not come back. The perfect examples, Philly twice, dallas and st-louis and the devils last night.
Well guys i hope i was able to clear this up for you.

But those teams are boring when they don't face us. Imagine being a Devils fan last night or a Blues fan last week or a Flyers fan when we faced them...we would all be saying..WOW WHAT AN EXCITING GAME!!

Pam, but when they face the Habs they totally change their gameplan and actually attack. That's the point I am trying to bring.
