This is just a peeve, guys.
I was waiting for highlights of the Montreal, Dallas game on CTV Sportsnet, and had to sit through the Leafs and RAPTORS highlights before it came on.
Leaving the Habs issue aside, this seems to be a regular occurance with this network. It's all Toronto first the rest later. If the Blue Jays were playing we'd have to wait through that as well I'm sure.
Sorry, guys. Just can't believe how they can do that. I know they show regional hockey games. But I thought it was national network when it came to reporting.
Just venting. Thanks guys. Cheers.

Even TSN isn't as bad. Their whole slogan is "Sporstnet Ontario" anyways, so that's the way they get away with it. Although they do the same damn thing to the Senators too. Always Leafs first. Their coverage isn't even that good...if you want quick highlights, try Headline Sports...I find they're alot better.
What are they going to do come playoff time when the Leafs don't make it?

Unfortunately Dis thats what were stuck with but in there defense I also get the other three regional sportnet channels and they lead with the other clubs that they are associated with.Remember the Habs are the only team which games they do not carry. Join the club I live right in the heart of leaf land. HFTO

TSN and Headline sports are usually the same though. It isn't until we've seen highlights, and heard post game coverage (including press conference) of both the Leafs and Raptors, that we see the rest of the NHL coverage.

You guys think the problem only exists on Sportsnet ontario? nope...it's also a problem here on Sportsnet East. Always the Leafs first on their prime time shows...it's sickening...

It may have much to do with these stations are based in Toronto which is the largest TV market and run by suits that all have Leaf season tickets and are therefore Leaf fans. You can always try the alternative and get a dish so you can see ESPN...and no hockey highlights.

Dont you know...Toronto is the center of the universe. Bob Cole and Harry Neale on CBC are die hard leaf fans, TSN may as well be called Toronto Sports Network, and Sportsnet, well, thats the only saving grace because they have broadcast points throughout Canada. (Pacific, West, Ontairio etc).
Im so thankful I can buy RDS for $1.99 a month, catch all the HAB games, and, get HAB highlites first! Just have to keep brushing up on my French!

if you want quick highlights, try Headline Sports...I find they're alot better. Absolutely they always show a few different angles during replay's of questionable calls as well Last year the Hit of Tucker by Alfredson was completely different when you seen it from the 2 or three angles they used vs the convenient most ugly version you'd get on TSN or Sportsnet. I actually completely changed my opinion of the play when i saw it later in the evening on headline sports it was just that much better a camera angle to make a desicion on.

I usually catch the last showing of Spotscentral AM on sportsnet pacific on my lunch break, and they always start off with Vancouver highlights (Canucks, Lions, even Seattle Mariners) of some sort. Sportsnet West always shows Oilers then Flames highlights first. I guess I don't pay attention to the easternmost two channels, as they aren't showing highlights as I want to see them.

The morning shows are OK when it comes to local coverage, but out here in the east they have the PRIME TIME edition of Sportscentral and the Laughs obviously get the first headlines..

A buck-ninety-nine Unfortunately, Kingston cable services suck the big one. I've looked through the digital packages that are offered here and RDS just isn't there. I've got to go to Napanee, KR's place actually, if I want to see RDS. The kicker is, Napanee is a 1/2-hour drive away from Kingston, on the Toronto side. They're actually further away from Montreal than we are. I also have a buddy that gets the NHL Centre Ice package. He's a Leaf fan and he doesn't get half of the games he thought he would. He also said it pertains to the Habs as well. Go figure the odds. I've heard you can base your package around the team you route for, but I have yet to hear anyone here in Kingston say anything favourable about the packages. Now, if I'm going to fork out the kind of cash they want for a NHL package, I'd want to see my favourite team more than just the odd time. But, you know something? If the cable is all I have to gripe about ... life is good Cheers.

Big-time Habs/Leafs country here, Marc-la. I could probably start a petition or something, but to tell you the truth, buds, like most Ontarians, I've got to continue the fight up to keep our hydro costs down. They jumped through the roof last month.
I'm sure RDS would be a welcome addition to the area actually. There's only one French channel for Kingston right now as it is. And, with the base here, we have a large Francophone element as well. It might not be as large as you'd think as we only require the one French public school and high school, but there's quite a few French people here.
Again, in Napanee, I think they have three French channels including RDS. And, again, they're further away from Quebec than we are. Go figure. Cheers.

Ya baby!!
Did I mention I live in New Westminster , BC???
Not exactly Hab country, but, ya $1.99!!
Canuck fans cannot even touch what I get. If they want to see all 82 games, they have do the pay per view thing for some of them (9-10 bucks a game)
RDS ROX!

Dis, are you positive about the total non availability of that? From what I understand CRTC has a clause about that -- all French channels must be available to a subscriber...we run Cogeco here (although I'm on satellite) in Southwestern Ontario but I could have sworn there is access to RDS as an addition the cable package.
You're probably right though -- just because it's available, doesn't mean Cogeco has to make it easy to aqcuire, you'd probably have to subsribe to a bunch of other junk to get it.
As for Center Ice, my horrible experience with it has informed me that if you are in a particular viewing area (ie I'm in Leafs Land in Southwestern Ontario), then those games are blacked out. In this case, games may or may not be availalbe under local coverage (ie TSN or Sportsnet regional coverage games). Everything other game should be available on Center Ice UNLESS the team you are looking for is also available on local coverage. It gets confusing.
Lots of times, the Habs on Center Ice are covered by Fox coverage, which is absolutely BRUTAL.

Marc, don't get me started on how bad the Fox crews are...I keep expecting them to bust into the "bad boys, bad boys, whatcha going to do" intro to Cops everytime their telecast comes on. I remember last season being able to watch every single Habs game on the dish...so I don't know the answer to your question, there was always an English feed. But usually it was FAR better to turn to a French station covering the game (TQS or similar), because it was too painful to sit through the Fox coverage.

I've tried turning off the volume but that doesn't work. You loose a feel of the game. The fans are an important part of the game. With the OLAY OLAY chants, that makes the game fun. I like the games more with no annoucers.

Last week I tried to catch some Habs highlights on Sportsnet, none were shown(that I know of) and nothing was mentioned of a Montreal game so I thought I was losing it and that they hadn't even played that night.
Show the frigging canadian hockey teams first, then get on with the rest of the crap I couldn't care less about. Come on!

The only channel I get without buying an enhanced, or digital package, is SRC. It doesn't necessarily have to be RDS, but the one French channel is a real dis-service so to speak. Sounds more and more like the comments I keep hearing. But, I have to admit I get lucky some Saturdays. Channel 4 is CBC Ottawa, while channel 10 is CBC, Kingston. Sometimes I can get a Sens game on 4, a Leafs game on 10, and les good guys on 8 (SRC). Drives the wife nutty. Cheers.

I really dig my RDS over here in BC, we don't get any hab games in english other than the odd tsn one this season, and if the leafs are playing a late game on saturday night. for $1.99 a month on digital cable i can watch every single game. If they keep losing though, i might lose a few years in the long run, i don't take that stress all too well
