what's up with them? I remember Jacques Demers saying after Rivet signed that ''Petrov will sign before the season starts''...well the season is almost a month old and lil' Oleg is with no contract extension. Has AS realised he can't lock up Petrov until Audi or Czerk go? is AS looking at what Petrov can get him in a trade? has AS just realised Meehan is asking way too much and will let Petrov test the market? I sure hope AS doesn't give him another insane contract (3 years, 9 million kind of insanse) Thoughts?

This as been said by both Petrov and AS, there will be no contract talk during the season. They didn't reach an agreement before the season so we'll have to wait.
Anyway, Petrov really like Montréal and he plan to stay here when he retire so we have very good chances to sign him.
And it will give us a chance to evaluate him, see if he can have as good a season as last year.

are you sure about that Psy? I never heard them say ''no contract talks during the season''
One thing about AS--when he has a UFA on his team, he usually tries to sign him or he deals him. He doesn't like losing them for nothing.

I never did understand that philosophy, of no contract talks during the season. They "don't want the distraction". Geez, aan't these guys multitask? I mean, during my work day I might need to research abstracts or studies on the effects of garlic extract on oxidant/antioxidant status and atherosclerotic plaque formation in rabbit aorta, and answer a phone, too. It's not like the player is really involved except to say "yes" or "no" to an offer presented to his agent by management anyway.
