Habs prospect Duncan Milroy has been suspended by his coach for putting his interests above the teams interest. He was suspended last year by the team for some underage drinking incident. I do not know what he did, but his coach isn't happy. I think he's in the top 10 in scoring, and I know he's 2nd on his team in scoring. Last year he got off to a slow start, then got suspended, then after Decemeber he went on a tear. Anyone know whats up? Oh the article can be found at Hockeysfutre.com front page.

This is good news. The kid's too good for the league. He chewed it up in the playoffs last year and were he not junior eligible he'd be in Hamilton. So he's got a bit of edge. He's 19 yrs old and he's a hockey player and he lives in Kootney. So he has a problem with his coach, so what? Shows he's got edge. I already like Milroy. He's going to be a player.

only JV could turn something like this into a positive.
We don't have more details so it's tough to comment right now, but it looks like Milroy was playing selfishly and not for the team. Keep in mind he is the supposed leader of that team.

Keep in mind he is the supposed leader of that team. Well I don't know what happened so I can't say. He is the Assitant captain of the team, but should be the leader (playoff & memorial cup MVP). Last year around this time of year, he got a suspension for going out drinking on his birthday or a teamates birthday, something like that. So maybe its something minor, but the coaches comments didn't make it seem that way. But he's Hamilton bound for sure in '03-'04.

A buddy of mine lives in Cranbrook and worships the Ice. I'll get the scoop from him but as I recall milroy was traded last year because of an attitude problem - not so much on the ice but more his off-ice conduct. That's fine if it's just a kid growing up but if it's a personality flaw then I'm concerned. Call me old fashion but i like my Habs in the Jean Beliveau mold.

That's fine if it's just a kid growing up but if it's a personality flaw then I'm concerned. Call me old fashion but i like my Habs in the Jean Beliveau mold. Well like I said before, I don't know what is up. But this kid has tons of character. I followed the Ice closely last year, and wow was Milroy ever amazing. I heard an interview his GM did, and he talked about how he got a letter from Duncan after the Ice lost their first 2 games to PG, so Milroy writes his GM a letter saying that they would go on and win the series (even though they were down 0-2 and going to play 3 on the road). And he took the team on his back, and did indeed win the next 3 games and the series. The whole playoffs he was all over the place, as he racked up the points. I really like this kid and hope he has a great career with us, and I hope that his is just something minor. I would like to hear what your friend thinks of the situation, and of Milroy as a player if its cool.

Well to me I worry more about skill then size. In the case of Milroy, I worry a lot more about his skating, then him being only 6'. But in the case of size, I focus more on weight then height. There's not much difference between 5'11-6'1. But the guys that are 180 or under will have a tough time not getting knocked off the puck. Plus a persons overall strength is very important. Take Chris Higgins 5'11 192 vs Milroy 6'0 190. 2lbs to Higgins and 1 inch to Milroy, is about even. But if Higgins has better balance and is stronger, he could have an easier time in the NHL then Milroy. (I have no ideal who is stronger, just an random example).
