...going back to Hackett after Theodore has his best game of the year. This can only mean two things..1: AS has told MT play him because we are on the verge of dealing him or 2:MT is the lunatic we all think he is. There is, IMO, an unwritten rule when it comes to goalies: when one of them gets a shutout, he HAS to play the next game. Unless it's a 2 game in 2 nights thing..
The french media will be all over him for this move. Watch out for the Regean Tremblay's, Bert Raymond's and Michel Bergeron's of this world. If Hackett has a bad game, the ''fire MT'' calls may come out for the first time.
MT is walking on VERY thin ice with this decision. It's a gusty one and a very risky one. I say this must mean there is a trade coming.

I say this must mean there is a trade coming. This doesn't surprise me at all. They sat Chow and he had a 200+ games played streak that was broken cause he's lazy. I heard that he's still pissed about it, from the Isles announcers last night, when they interviewed him. I think his streak was 220 or 230 games, somewhere around there and it was one of the highest for active players. I think Amonte was the highest. Now that takes balls. I'm glad they sat Chow. As for Hackett, I would have went with Theo and let Hackett play the better team on Tuesday when we play the Stars. But maybe he thinks Theo should play the Stars. Either way, I don't think its a big deal. Hackett hasn't lost a game, and his .937 save % is great.

Oh no doubt either way we'll have solid goaltending. But the potential distraction MT has created is something this team does not need IMO.
Up to now he has handled the goalie issue very well IMO...but this decision, imo, only makes sense if they are on the verge of trading Hackett and the other team wants him to start once again. Sort of like what happened with Savage before he was dealt. How the Habs ''asked'' him to come back earlier.

IMO there is no controversy, that's all media and fan driven.
We have two great goalies, and they're both going to be kept sharp. I don't mind Hackett starting at all, the more he plays like he has been, the better the deal for him will be.

True, Hackett hasn't played since last Saturday.
can't wait to hear what the experts have to say about this move.

Much ado about nothing. The goalies are both friends and they know the business of hockey. The media seems to think they can start a fire where there's no fuel.

I don't know Marc. I figure Hack should've started on Thursday. That's the mistake idiot MT made. Hack plays in T.O. and beats them so what you're prepared to sit him more than a week. Theo struggled against St. Louis as the norm has been so like I said Hack should have started last night and it would have made sense. Of course if our coach starts making sense, I'll know the end of the world is near. So, long story short, Hack deserves the start. Period.

The only controversy is the one construed by the media. Everything I have ever seen from Hackett has shown a team player that has supported Theodore in every way he can. Every interview shows a frustrated Hack dealing with the circus that comes with playing in Montreal. Bottom line is Jeff has been the best goaltender on this team, and without him there'd be a whole lot more bitching about this team had he not stood on his head from the beginning of the season. Theodore has had two straight starts and in the Loo game gave up a softie that changed the tide of the game. In last nights game, last years Theo showed up. It's Hackett's turn to play.

Amazingly, the media led by Bergeron and company are taking this decision surprisingly well. I wonder what they would have said if Reggie/AV were in charge...oh well..
Looks like I was wrong.

MP I think your right to tell you the truth Jose is the number one guy and he's coming off his best game He earned the start on Sauturday. Hackett technically didn't do anything to lose his role If your gonna go with the hot hand but the bottom line is Theo is the #1 guy and should be treated as such. After the shutout you go with your starter IMO he just regained his confidence so you let him roll with it as the starter until A: a back to back game or B: he has an off night.

and give the start to Hackett Tuesday against Dallas.
Now Theodore is probably gonna face the loaded Stars and if they score 5 against him(very possible with our crappy D) all the progress he has made the past 2-3 games could go down the toilet.
We can't go on forever with this 2 goalie system. It's not fair to both of them.
BTW Reggie Tremblay almost calls Therrien an incompetent in today's LaPresse. I'd hate to see the reaction if Hackett loses tonight and let's in a bad goal...Therrien could get grilled.
