I've said this since the beginning of the season. We're gonna be at .500 all season long. At least untill the last month starts. Does anyone else think that this team wins games despite MT? That's how I see it. These days you can be the most talented team in hockey but without a system to play by, you're gonna get run outta the rink night in and night out. What's amazing to me is that on some nights the talent on this team (and there's truckloads of that) is enough to win games. I'd be willing to bet anything that if you put teams on the ice and let them play without a system, more than half the teams in the league would be below .500. The mere fact that we're at 4-4-4 is amazing and is only thanks to the collective talent on our team. When you get outshot every single night, something is fundamentally wrong with your hockey team. Even Colombus, Florida, Tampa, Ducks (I can name all the bottom feeding teams) don't get outshot night in and night out. Getting outshot has nothing to do with the fact that we have a few small forwards or that our D isn't that great. A few of our forwards might be a little small but our D is not THAT horrid to justify getting outshot every single god damn night. I don't understand why the media isn't picking up on that. All they do is b*tch about our small forwards...that's not why we're getting outshot every night. Not by a long shot.

Actually Raven the lack of size up front is a problem for our shot's total and our defender's IMO. Here's why, the defender's depend on the winger's to accept passes and facilitate the break out from our own zone and they are consistently outhussled and outmussled by the opponent's forwards along the boards. Many times i see a winger just plain and simply get caught flat footed waiting for the puck to arrive along the board's while the opposing forward just cut's off the shovel pass coming around to him. Many a time the opposition is able to create a few shot's on goal a night simply because of the lack of work ethic and size our forward's have. Now for the lack of a system we have there's a system it's called "The Trough" for a more extensive idea what that system is here have a look see at this. habsrus.proboards4.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&n=1&thread=5109it's the first post in the thread by HA so there's a system alright just not one anyone can detect as a very good one.

The D are scared to carry the puck out because the other team's forward are always in their faces(in our zone). Talents like Breezy and Markov can get it out because they have good vision, but players with less natural ability like Rivet, Quintal, Dykhuis and Traverse need the forwards to come back and help them get it out. Plus when you try to throw it off the glass usually they can intercept it at the point damn crappy system we have

Plus when you try to throw it off the glass usually they can intercept it at the point damn crappy system we have Oh I don't blame the system, I blame the crappy no talent players. Dykhuis, the king of the pass off the boards, turns the puck over or ices it more often then any player I can think of. Rivet has just about zero passing ability. Quintal has even less then Rivet. And when Souray comes back he can be added to the list of no talent passers. Thats half of our defence can't make the all important breakout pass. Then theres Brisebois, Markov and Traverse. They can make good passes and even take the puck end to end. But our small forwards don't really help them out, as they either aren't down low enough or not in a good position to recieve a pass. Its a catch 22. Half our defence can't pass very good, and most of our wingers can't get open or put themsleves into better positions to recieve a pass. I think a lot of the problems we are having is due to a poor breakout.

I dunno about that Montreal. I mean there HAVE to be some good teams out there with bluelines filled with Quintal's and Dykhuis's of this world who get a good transition going.
