Damn script.... it posted as I was trying to add a 4th option to the poll - that we'd pick up at least 1 million in salary coming back our way.

We'll have to pay a part of his salary.
It's clear right now the guy is in the doghouse and it's going to take an injured RW for him to get back in there and try to get out of it.

What the heck, I'll take option 4, Donald gets packaged off to T.B. along with Yannic, Lindsey and the #1 pick in 2004 and 2005 for Vinnie ;D

He gets traded to the Rangers who can afford his full salary. We toss in something else (Traverse, nice steady defenseman) and we get Kloucek in return. There....my contribution to your political aspirations.

8 games!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guy was a solid contributor last year and ...
8 freakin' games (3 of which he played on a 4th line) after missing almost all of the camp because he was injured and we're ready to trade him for a bag of pucks or release him for nothing!!!!
Hello-ho!!!?
It's Donald Audette we're talking about here... Forget about the anti-Audette campaining you keep reading on this board, the guy has always been recognized as a hard working player that contributes offensively... 240 goals in 638 NHL games, that's .38 goals per game so an AVERAGE of 30 goals a season over his 12 years carreer... Not too shabby if you ask me. As for his inability to play any defense, his +/- has never been totally out of whack.
I think it's a total joke that we think a floater like Czerkowsky will give us more then Audette would. Just ask any Islanders fans...
This is just silly. If salary is your only concern, don't worry, if we trade him, we won't have to eat any of it.

well, Doc, if Audette was in the Habs plans do you think they would be sitting him for 3 games in arrow?
I think MT just can't stand him anymore.
It's obvious something has gone wrong. I mean to go from being the a key member of the team in the playoffs to a healthy scratch to start the season is just an unreal drop.

I think that there is alot about this whole ordeal that we (ie. the fans) don't know about. It does seem kind of strange that Audi goes from all the early hype to his heroic playoff performance to being penciled onto the Habs #1 line and now 8 games into the season he is being shopped to the 29 other NHL clubs.

problems with MT?
Maybe AS just decided after Audette's agent wanted bigger bonus clauses to shop him..

Well, I never liked the Audette deal in the first place, so I guess I'm not worried in any way at seeing him go. He didn't last very long in Dallas either, and none of his previous teams seemed torn at losing him. He puts up numbers, but that's it. He's small, injury-prone, slow and lacks grit. And he's not putting up the numbers, and seems to still have a problem with his wrist. As to his contract, Audette has long been the poster-child for the type of contract I don't want to see AS acquire - long-term for serious money from an ageing player... If Audette were still in good shape he might be dealable, but until he's shown he's really healed, I somehow doubt he can fetch much of interest. Now I understand why he was always on Buffalo's 4th line....

It's a tragedy that we will never really know how good he could have been for the habs. when we first got him he and the team were on fire but then the injury. Fact is he has never been the same. I hope he makes a full recovery but right now no team can have any confidence that he has or will recover. that means that AS is really dealing from a position of weakness. i don't see us getting much and i do see us picking up part of the contract. I'd rather see him given 3 games on the top line and playing the pp. Right now he should be good and mad, he says he can play but is not getting the quality ice time. Let him prove himself. If we're going to give him away and pay some salary i'd like to be sure he' can't help us. i also think we may owe it to him as a veteran who was hurt in the line of duty.

Kilger has been out for 2 games now, following the same logic we can then assume that Kilger is a goner too...? In order to play Blouin and Lindsay... Beautiful... Something has gone wrong no doubt about it.

I voted for Savard paying $500K of Audette, since I doubt a high priced player would be coming back.
Someone on the right side has to be dealt for the good of the lineup, so I find myself with the people saying why not Donald? After all, he's the oldest, makes the most money and ties Savard's hands through 2004-05.
Also there is quite an amount of circumstancial evidence, at least if you believe Demers, that Audette and his agent came looking for a better contract, perhaps more incentives and perhaps the coveted no-trade clause that Savard has extended to some veterans. For me, Audette had no business looking for anything more than he signed for. I think Bob Gainey's wild spending spree that summer in Dallas has actually made Audette very overpriced, so AS has very few clubs that can financially take on that deal. And second-tier snipers are not that hard to come by -- Rosie signed for 1.5 after waiting for five months and Savard picked up Czerkawski for Asham and a 5th.
I understand why it is sad to see Donald sitting in the pressbox after his magic in the playoffs. But he did not show up ready to compete when the season started -- until the Toronto game, his effort was pitiful and I would not doubt some of the guys (like the Captain) were offended.

well the rumor has the Rangers want Kilger ;D Well didn't the 1st rumor with the Rangers was talkink about Czerkawski...Is it possible that AS is trying to repair a trade that didn't work...he wanted at the time a LW and got one that only play RW...so I say Audette is not that mutch in the dog house but Czerkawski is in the showcase

Could be. What better way to increase a player value than playing him with Koivu and Zed on the top line ;D

I think that it is lidsay who is being show cased. He will be the throw in for what ever trade AS does. Otherwise it makes no sense not playing kilger. also lidsay is the easiest to replace and I'd rather see some young blood fill that roll.

Now I understand why he was always on Buffalo's 4th line.... Yeah, I'm with you. I was never all that keen on acquiring Audette. Why we aren't GMs, I will never know. ;D I still think Atlanta is our best bet for a trade. They are in a world of hurt down there, their attendance is slipping, and Audette turned in one of the best seasons by anyone in their (short) history. He would be somewhat of a name player down there. Plus, as an added bonus, they could actually use him: Kovalchouk - Stefan - Heately Kozlov - McEachern - Audette ? That's not a bad top two lines... I'd aim for draft picks. As high as we can get 'em. Throw in Eric Chouinard (born in Atlanta, where his dad was a star - another "name" for them) and see if we can get a 3rd or something. I can't see any other team being all that hot for him...
