POST GAME THOUGHT'S I'M TOTALLY JACKED BEST GAME SINCE OPENING NIGHT VS RAGS . Sheesh, we should harness you and plough a field or two. It was a good effort by the Hab's but the Leafs are really brutal these days. I can not believe the lack af attack by the bigger Leafs. Only sparadoc sustained effort. Did you guys hear that Savard was watching 2 games atr the ACC besides this one? Is ther something a'foot? Possibly Hack and change for Andropov? Solid effort buy Markov, Hack and the resat. Let's not get too excited. Chew was worthless again.

Sigh, they're young HA. I wouldn't mind Antropov at all. A real horse! He's got lots of improvement in him yet.

Actually HA, Chew had a 3 point night and the one assist he took a hit to get the puck out to the front of the net. He was benched in the 2nd but I think it was one of his better efforts which isn't saying a whole lot but it's a start I suppose.

I did not pay attention to the assists. Oh well.................

Here's what I saw, Viper.
- I was waiting for the Leaf comeback actually. Les good guys had three powerplays, but didn't really put in an all out effort into burying the buds. I sighed when Markov blasted in his empty-netter.
- the powerplay may not have scored all that much tonight, but it looked like a powerplay nonetheless. They used two lines; Gilmour/Petrov/Perreault and Koivu/Zednik/Chow (who).
- did anyone notice Patrice Brisebois laying out a Toronto player that went to the crease? Nice to see Brisebois using his muscle.
- then again, did anyone see Craig Rivet getting physical with Tie Domi? Nice job. I did, however, avert my eyes when he coughed the puck up to a steaking Leaf forward who had a clear avenue to Hackett. Then I heard the offside whistle. Phew!
- this is one of the first times recently where I've seen Jeff Hackett actually smile.
- I could care less if Petrov's first goal was a bit of a fluke. When you work hard goals like that go in.
- Therrien was visably supporting his players tonight by questioning calls.
- speaking of refereeing ... Doug Gilmour's obstruction on Sundin was a chinsy call. All Sundin had to do was go down on one knee. Ron Hainsey found himself in a similar situation. He was suckered into a penalty as well, or at least that was my perception anyway. Still, overall the level of officiating was inconsistent on both sides.
- that's about the third or fourth time this year I've seen someone walk around Karl Dykhuis. The same moves too. What's up with that!
- Gilmour responded to the additional ice time. Maybe I missed some other interviews, but I saw the segment where Gilmour said something like, "... I'll play defence if it means more ice time ..." He was trying to make a joke it seemed. Now, it's evolved into a theory of sorts. Maybe I missed some other quotes, but this one didn't seem to have too much substance to it.
- Koivu's line was +3
- Zednik leads le Club in goals and shots.
Cheers.

WOW! The habs played a very good game. We had lots of chances to score Petrov scored 2 and chances to score 3 more. MArkov is really starting to pick up his game. Man he was being physical I saw at least 2 good hits from him. Breezy had another excellent game. The lines where Chow-Koivu-Zednick Bulis-Juneau-Dackell Gilmore-Perreault-Petrov Bluion-Lindsay-MacKay Markov-Rivet Dykhuis-Brisebois Hainsey-Traverse out- Audette,Kilger(?),Garon hurt- Souray,Quintal,Ribeiro, Odjik( ) The ref was terrible (KOharski) thank god the other ref stepped in. I wonder if Chicago would trade Simon to us for ............. Audette? Blouin......why ?? I don't know he's on a high(playing for MT again) but it will where off fast. I would have like to see O'Dette.

Besy game ive seen for some players. breakwood and markov seemed to be getting in the mix which was good. and petrov continues to be better than everyone thought he would be. I'll agree the reffs were poo , i mean if you're going to call an interferance call, atleast get it right. also, someone please stop letting bob cole and harry neil do the booth for the leaf-hab games...i almost wanted to put the game on SRC, atleast then i would only understand 9 out of 10 words and they wont be getting excited every time the leafs get a chance or saying it's a montreal penalty when the leaf player touches the puck when the whistle blows...i think someone else blows... didnt see much of blouin, no surprise though, the boys played a tough enough game on their own. lets hope they can keep putting this kind of effort out there.

After 80 mintues to think on it....
here is my recap:
1st line:After a couple of mediocre games. They were great tonight. Zednik is a big game player. He steps it up on the big stages and is on his way to a great season. Koivu was great as well and it was nice to see him get a point. Chow with a solid effort and 3 passes. Good game by them
2nd line: Petrov was flying. The Petrov of last year. 1st goal was a bit of a fluke and he almost botched the 2nd one(thanks Eddie for staying down!!!). Perreault and Gilmour were decent. Oh yeah that Petrov-Gilmour-McKay PP unit is awesome!!!
3rd line: Great again. It seems like we keep repeating ourselves
4th line: McKay...what a great pickup. We need a player like this and he will be great for us in these Eastern conference wars. Lindsay was in tjhe face of Tucker and Domi. Great to see. Did Blouin play tonight? hopefully the media calms down a little when it comes to him.
1st D pair: Breezy...wow. A great game. Dykhuis was solid as well
2nd D pair: Markov was a force out there. Offensively, defensively, in his battles against Sundin, etc. A joy to watch and he is only 23. And oh yeah, loved that puck being blasted into the empty net. A little show off is never bad against the Laughs. Markov is well on his way, IMO, to becoming the best Habs d-man. Rivet was decent
3rd pair: The only thing you ask out of Hainsey-Traverse is to NOT be on the ice when the other team scores. They didn't so they did their job IMO. I wish Hainsey could have a better partner than Traverse or Quintal. It's really sad how he has to learn with those 2...I also can't believe he barely played on the PP(Traverse played alot on it).
(holy crap...Jordan Leopold, the Hobey Baker award winner, just scored for Calgary...great goal...kid looks like a stud...2nd goal already for him..Drury with another point...CGY winning that trade so far IMO)
Goaltending: Hackett solid again. It's coming to a point where it's gonna have to take a Isbiter or a McLaren coming our way to trade him to a conference rival. Toronto could sure use him. Boy was Bel-FORE BRUTAL.
All in all a great win. PK needs a little more works but the refs were horrible in the 2nd. PP looks better as well
Tough game on Tuesday against the miracle Blues...

It was a well played game by the boys.
gilmour clearly thrives on the ice time and should be given it as that line played well.
McKay is starting to play like the player we wanted when he was signed. He said in an interview that he's still getting in shape. What's that all about?
markov was great at both ends of the ice and is by far our best Dman. i don't know how he wasn't a star. Hack played well but not well enough to beat out Markov.
Boy is Zed good. Speed strength and a shot.
i thought Cz played well. his skating had some jump and he seemed to be engaged. He still hasn't shown any offensive prowess yet but if he keeps working...
their pp had good possession and i thought played well. The pk only played well when they were aggressive. They were in trouble everytime they layed back.
As for To quinn isn't going anywhere fortunately for us as he is a dreadful gm. He's a good coach but once he starts the gm stuff as he did in Vanc. the team collapses. Smith did a pretty good job building the laughs and Quinn is now undoing it. Mogilny was nicely unnoticeable. Tucker did nothing after the Lindsay hit which i did not think warranted a penalty. Belfour is a 'has been' and don't he look good in a laughs uni at how many million a year? Domi is still an idiot. How does Macaulay have an 'A'. He played a string of good games last year but otherwise shows very little leadership.
i'm sorry to see Kilger sitting and would rather him than lindsay. Audette is not long for this team.

to answers 2 of your questions:
-McKay had the broken foot and missed time...that's what he means by getting in shape
-Belfore makes 6.5 million per year and same thing for next year as well!
Quinn is a brutal GM!!!

- I was waiting for the Leaf comeback actually. Les good guys had three powerplays, but didn't really put in an all out effort into burying the buds. I sighed when Markov blasted in his empty-netter. Same here. I want to see a win where I'm relaxed with 5 minutes to go. Yup, and we saw him mix it up with Domi. Patrice can stand up for himself when he feels he has team backing, the extra grit we've added can mean something here. That was a bad mistake for any D, especially a defensive guy like Rivet.Ouch ! Still cost us a goal tonight... About Hainsey, he's still very, very raw.... generally unimpressed. Then again, the other talented D like Brisebois and Markov were having terrific nights... Well, that's why Karl is the guy a lot of people see as being on his way out...

That was a bad mistake for any D, especially a defensive guy like Rivet.Ouch ! You know something, PTH? As I was saying to BC, I really like his leadership qualities, but if you're going to publicly criticize your teammates (not necessarily by name mind you), you simply can't make mistakes like that. I was extremely relieved when I heard that offside whistle but still... I'm more than happy having Rivet in the lineup. But, you have to walk-the-walk if you talk-the-talk. Cheers.

I'm glad I was out of town all weekend (my daughter's 34th B-Day), so I didn't have to witness our (Leafs) loss. This game would have been a hard one to swallow. It was hard enough to hear on the news. I would have been crying if I had been listening to the game on the Internet. With the way the Leafs have been playing I'm not surprised they lost to the Habs. I just hope to God something shakes my team up to turn them around. How about if they start by firing Quinn the GM. I think that would be a BIG help. Congratulations. The best team on Saturday night won (Viper, that doesn't mean I am becoming a Habs fan. )
