Ok, I havent seen this as an actual rumor, but I put 2 and 2 together. Let me know what you think: Today in the Sunday Sun, it said that Alexi Yashin was unhappy with wingers Oleg Kavasha and Brad Isbister. In another unrelated column, it also stated that the Isles were going to stick with Chris Osgood for now , even thouugh he had the highest gaa among all starting goalies in the league So how about Hackett for Isbister, or somethig like that? Thoughts?
Cheers habits

I'd dance in the streets. Wanna bet Hack is starting Thursday against the Isles? Moronic Mike will be watching and if Hack stones em and Ozzy sucks again...AS will be in a good position ;D Isbiter is a LW(can play RW) as well. Has huge size and plenty of talent. Just hasn't put it together yet tsf.waymoresports.thestar.com/thestar/hockey/player.cgi?0320He'd be our power forward. Hell I'd even give them Hossa in that deal if they want. Hackett+Hossa for Isbiter. Sounds fair IMO.

So, Ya$hin is complaining about his linemates. Go figure the odds. Can't be the 90-million-dollar-man could it? Would I like Isbister on my squad; sure, who wouldn't. But obtaining Hackett won't solve Ya$hin's latest complaint. But, if he did bring in some other wingers to play with Ya$hin, I'm sure Alexei would find something else to complain about down the road. After all, it can't be his fault Guys making that kind of dough just aren't responsible for anything Just ask him, or Guerin, or ... Sorry, couldn't resist, buds. Cheers.

So how about Hackett for Isbister, or somethig like that? Thoughts? I would also be all for such a move, but there is little chance of this happening. Isbister is huge, fairly young and would probably be coveted by more than a few clubs. You think that a UFA goalie would be the best offer the Islanders would receive? I don't. If we want Isbister, we would probably have to offer up a d-man (Souray, Dykhuis) and maybe a guy like Hossa. Souray (when healthy) and Hossa would probably get it done, but that's kind of a steep price, eh?

Not that steep Patty.
You just mentionned 2 guys who are not even playing for us right now(Hossa and Souray) and who we can replace if they are dealt for an Isbister.
I think Mad Mike is on the verge of panicking and that's when you can really get him.

I think Mad Mike is on the verge of panicking and that's when you can really get him. True it makes us better today...but what about next year? And the year after that?? Personally i'm a huge Souray fan. He was huge for us in the playoffs last year (at least before the hit from behind) and i've always seen a fair bit of upside in this guy. Of course injuries have really hurt his development, but he's a guy that i would really hate to see dealt. And Hossa's one of the few prospects we have with that rare combo of size and skill. Of course getting Isbister helps in that area, but i would much prefer to have one of our smaller prospects (such as Balej) included in the deal instead. So basically if we could get Isbister for Dykhuis, Balej and say a 2nd i would be all for it...but i don't see that happening. My bet is that Mad Mike might try to get Shawn McEachern out of Atlanta. Both teams are struggling and could use a change, and getting Yash's old linemate back could make the big guy happy.

But Isbister is what? 25?
It's not like we would be getting a 34 year old here.

I would "never" give up a prospect for Isbister. If that prospect is Ward then maybe but let's keep our young guys to find out what they can do! How about Hack, Audi, Dykhuis for Isbister...3 for 1 and 3 above average players at every position for 1 unproven player? Of course we would need to eat some salary but they might have a stipulation in the trade where if they can sign Hack then we would not need to eat up some of Audi's salary

What about Raffi Torres? He's a left winger who plays aggressive, and has the potential to be a scorer. He still hasn't proven anything in the NHL, but I'd like to see him come to Montreal.

I agree with bandit, Torres will be a great player i would love to have him on our team. Get him as an add on. Milbury likes to trade prospects for players. We saw that with Connelly and Pyatt.
