Gone are the days of Savard, Robinson and Lapointe but the habs have a new regime on Defense. The "Medium Three" Brisebois, Rivet, Markov. These 3 are playing the best hockey that I've seen them play. Especially Brisebois! If I were to name a team MVP for the first month Breezy would be it. If you look at the team scoring you've got Breezy and Markov at the top of the list. They make good passes, they have great shots on the PP and they have started to use the body in front of the net. In the last 4 games I haven't seen Brisebois hit so much. Rivet does his work on the back line aswell. He works hard, he hits, punishes the opposition in front of the net, now if they could only not give him the puck inside his blueline then he'd be a perfect stay at home defenseman. If there's one thing I hate about him is his blind cross ice passes at our blueline.
Markov is starting to remind me of a Sergei Zubov type of defenseman. And he's still young so there's plenty of room for improvement.
So for the next couple of years I think Montreal's defensive core will be great:
"Brisebois" Komisarek "Rivet" "Markov" Hainsey Souray
I was a Breezy and Rivet basher before but this season they are earning their big bucks. Let's hope it continues all year long and they can stay away from injuries.

Hell yeah. Rivet is hated by the french media but he's playing solid hockey IMO. Nothing more can be said about Breezy and Markov. They have been great.
Souray-Brisebois Hainsey-Rivet Markov-Komisarek
oh yeah....sweet defence indeed...great mix of offence, mobility, defence, physical play on every pair and hopefully a quick transition game

Not a good comparison. Wouldn't trade these 3 even up for just one of the Big three. Give Markov a few years and he could be their valet.

And I'd be right behind him with the salt to rub into the wound. I get your point, though, Brisebois and Markov played as well as we've seen last night. Rivet needs some work still, but at least he gave better than he got in that chippy exchange with Domi. That was a great collision between those two...both were ready, both pushed into it hard and both bounced off. Sorry, boys, I like Domi....he could play for me anytime.
