He came out last night with alot of fire. His two big hits were a little questionable, and left two players on the ice in Daniels and Cole. His fight was nothing special. I think he will take some bad penalities, but already he is letting the other team know that he's mental unstable and anything can happen when he comes on the ice. This in itself will make other teams think before doing something to our smurfs. Overall 1st game impression he has intensity, craziness, no fear. It won't really matter that he is not the best fighter if he can keep this up. I thought he really sparked a team that has lacked that fire. Take it for what it's worth it was one game. I'll also admit i'm interested in seeing what the madman does tonight in Toronto. If he plays i bet you he introduces himself with Tucker.

Two very questionable, and very, very dangerous hits from behind. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the league was reviewing them, and Mr. Blouin gets to sit out a game or two for his actions.
Also, don't forget, that his second "hit" drew a 5-minute major penalty, and were it not for Rod Brind'Amour clipping Craig Rivet, the whole tone of the game may have been different. If the Canes score 2 on that five minute advantage, and run away with the game, not so many people would be singing Sylvain's praises today...

I didn't like what I saw. I did not see the game so I only saw the hits once on TSN. They looked questionable at best - very nasty at worst. If the roles were reversed I would expect a suspension.
This guy has to cleanup his act and play a lot smarter. He can't defend his teammates if he is getting thrown out of games.

Mark my words, Blouin is going to start the type of games the Hab’s can not play. It’s one thing to start hitting a team like Carolina but it’s going to be whole new level of masochism if they start that with Toronto or Philadelphia.
Yup. All these sushi loving Hab smurf bullies will set the NHL a trembling.
You see, that is my problem with Savard. I ask him to get us an Uber Goon and instead, he gets us a smurf version of one that has to resort to dirty tricks and use his face to punish other goons fists.
Will he ever to get it right?
The pendulum swings lower and lower……………….

I'm not saying he's not dirty or stupid. Yet he made the other team think and provided a spark for our team.

HA i agree totally se need an uber enforcer, as a smallish soft team it is required. In the meantime we will have to settle with a middle of the pack enforcer who forgot to take his medication.

I am far from impressed with this acquisition and last night to me proved it in less than 5 mins. HFTO

The hit on Daniels was perfectly fine, imo. He didn't run him from a distance. The guy wasn't protecting himself and Blouin took him out. That's hockey. I actually thought that it was Rivet who made that hit until I found this morning that it was Blouin. The hit wasn't behind the play and with two zebras on the ice I think the silence of the whistles suggests that I'm right in saying it was perfectly legal. As for the second one, Cole was about to receive the puck as it scooted around the boards. He saw Blouin coming and turned his back. To me it was a questionable call and does not warrant a suspension by any means. Blouin might have gotten his stick up on the play (inadvertently according to him) and that might've had something to do with the call. I'm with zenseeker. I was impressed. The guy's got the kind of moxy we've been missing from our fourth line. I don't know how he'd fare against Brashear, Worrell or Sawyer, but the guy's prepared to go out there and slam anything that moves in the wrong coloured jersey and to take on anyone who takes exception to it. Say what you will, but the Habs played a more aggressive game last night then they had all season. Whether it's Carolina or Philly makes no difference, when you get in there on the forecheck you've got to put the body on someone. They did that, and even though they weren't able to establish the cycle down low, it seemed to keep their feet in the game in a way that's been missing. The higher tempo from the fear of being hit may be good for this team, as long as they're doing some hitting of their own. I'd come back with Blouin (if he's available) on a 4th line with Lindsay and Kilger and I'd sit Oleg tonight along with Audette. I'd also move Mckay up to the second line with Perreault and Gilmour, as Randy may be getting his wheel back in shape: zednick/koivu/czerk gilmour/perrier/mckay bulis/juneau/dackell lindsay/kilger/blouin go getem boys....
