Obviously I'm biased because I am a huge Jeff Hackett fan,but if I were St Louis I'd do whatever it takes to get Hack int their lineup.Tom Barrasso I don't think so! St Louis has not nose dived as perdicted and to me Hacketts timing would solidify them big time. HFTO

$$$$ and assests
Those are the reasons.
They know guys like Johnson and Brathwaite won't be out all year, so signing a Barrasso instead of trading for a Hack saves them money and assets.
We need a contender to lose it's number 1 goalie. Remeber in 1999-2000 when the Panthers were contending and Trevor Kidd got injured in a practice...they waited a few days and traded Radek Dvorak for Vernon. We need something like that to happen. A team to get desperate.

Exactly.. look what Bobby Clarke gave up for Oates after JR and Primeau went down late last season. The big problem, however, is Dafoe. Until he's signed, I don't think Hackett will garner much interest.

Andrew the teams that could possibly garner any are dwindling very quickly
SJ signed Nabby
Boston is relying on shields and seem to be fine plus trading with a division rival
St. Louis. well obviously lol
leafs maybe they are slipping huge and could be due for a shake up but the likelihood Quinn will suck it up and eat crow is pretty small IMO.
The otions are very very very small and that's not even considering the fact that Dafoe is available.
Hack is gonna end up where he is i think the only move left is Garon and resigning hack at season's end.
I can't see a team that will give him the legitimate # 1 goalie role he is looking for and if he doesn't suck it up and decide to be the best backup in the league instead of a potential mid range starter he's gonna end up just like dafoe with no place to go.

I think we're nuts if we let Hackett go at this point. I said that Hackett will start the year on fire and increase his trade value. He has. Now I'm saying that he's starting the year on fire and increasing his keeper value. Right now we need him. Theodore will come back and play great for us this year, but is it realistic to expect him to play 70 games in Hart/Vezina form? They are both valuable and I would accept nothing less than Iginla in trade for Theodore. Hackett has a great attitude and has never caused a problem. I don't want someone elses problems in exchange for him. Lecavallier has been someone elses problem. I don't care if a player or coach is French, English, Russian or Czechnian. It's the results that count!

To me...a player who can help us alot for the rest of the season(and for years to come) is more valuable than Hackett playing 15 games as a backup. I mean either way, he will not be back next year with this team.
But then again, if you can't get such a player..well keep Hack around

Well MP i have doubts regarding wether or not hack will be back i still believe the possibility exist's that Garon may move instead and Hackett won't sign anywhere next year much like dafoe this year waiting and waiting.
He could very well end up our Backup for a couple more season's until retirement.
That although unfair because Hack deserve's a shot as a starter IMO could very well end up happening unless he packs it in all together.

Plus what Dafoe such unattractive was his demands. He wanted and still wants 4-6 million$. Hackett will never ask for that much.

As Roosevelt said, "The puck stops here!" I want to win the game and I want the best players on the ice; not in Hamilton, not traded to St. Louis, not in the pressbox, but on the ice. I want the best coach behind the bench, and the best scouts watching games in Lethbridge and Rimouski. I want MT in Kabul wearing a burka and Boivin in St. John negotiating to sell Molson's to Moosehead.

I think the best bet for a Hackett trade right now is trading him to Atlanta. They are winless, the coach and GM are getting nervous and they are not getting good goaltending. And if they looked at Hackett on saturday night making 45 saves they'd be idiots not to be interrested.
Hackett - Dykhuis - Audette
for
Patrick Stefan - Jeff Cowan - late pick

ATL need more than just a goalie. Without looking it up, I challenge anyone to name 3 of their d-man. Their D is bad and I mean real bad. So bad Dykhuis wouldn't change much. Hackett would be bombarded like he was on Saturday about 50 times per year

How well would we have done in the last six games without Hackett? We could be 2 and 8. We could be out of the race by December. We all could want Hack Back. We don't know how much he is missed until he is gone.
