Is this the way it went down guys i read this over at HF and never knew this until just now is this right ------------------------------------------------------------------- Therrien is an interesting story, (he was hired by Houle to replace Vigneault). However, Houle wound up getting the axe the same morning that he planned to annouce the Therrien hiring. So really Therrien wasn't Andre Savards choice. -------------------------------------------------------------------- BTW it was a post by Habfan4 someone i really respect over there.

The decision to fire AV and promote MT was indeed taken when Houle was still the GM, but, by then, every hockey decision was going through a comitee made of Houle, Savard, Madden and Boivin. Obviously we don't know what's going on behind closed doors, but if anyone is wondering who was pushing the most for Therrien, just remember that so far, Savard, as the GM, extended Therrien's contract twice...

Therrien got the word, had mixed feelings because he had worked with Vigneault, and went down to the Molson Center for the press conference. It was only when he got there that he realized that a lot more was going on. The guy who had just promoted him to the NHL was toast....
