Canadiens call up Garon tsn.ca Staff 10/28/2002 (tsn.ca) - The Montreal Canadiens announced today that goaltender Mathieu Garon has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Garon was assigned to Hamilton last week for conditioning purposes. Garon, 24, played in two games with the Bulldogs, posting a 1-1-0 record, a 2.01 goals against average and a .934 save percentage. The move comes at a time when goaltending is a hot topic of conversation in Montreal. Last year's Hart Trophy winner Jose Theodore has struggled early this season but Jeff Hackett has picked up the slack. After signing a rich contract in the offseason, Theodore has lost three of his five starts while Hackett has won two of his four appearances, one of which was in relief of Theodore. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Does this seem a little early didn't they have 14 days to keep him down at the least is something else up

I don't know what the big deal is, this is what was planned when he got sent down. He could stay for 2 weeks but it was the plan since the beginning to bring him back after sundays game. Am I the only one that heard about that?? I hope it means somethings up, but I doubt it.

i never heard anything like that chopper as a matter of fact i heard something to the opposite effect regarding his stint being possibly longer. There is a loophole regarding player consent that could have seen him down for quite a while.

I also recall hearing that they were sending him down just until after Sunday's game. Hamilton presumably has two other goalies (one of them a good one belonging to Edmonton) and so the deal was probably that they could get Garon a couple of games but no more. You can't just have Garon go down there and play 5 games in two weeks. They're running a team down there as well and Edmonton has a say in it.

Every one on this board know MT is a genius...now he has to live with the situation of 3 goalies...keep the 3 happy...play the 3...so he invent a new system...
You win...you goal and Garon is the back up

True, Marc, but there was no tv series called "The Five Million Dollar Man", so HA is just making an obscure reference. You're too young to get it.
