Like most of you I have spent most of my day at work reading posts on what it wrong in Montreal.
I fully agree that time is running out on Therrian and his lack of lines or system. Also Montreal is looking to trade Hackett and would probably package one of Chow, Audette or Petrov with him for either a centre or left wing or a more physical defenseman.
But there are very few posts in who is available to replace either the coach or players. I would like to see Kyle Mclearen here in some 3 way trade with St Louis or Chicago. As for coaches would Larry Robinson, Red Berenson, Jim Roberts or Doug Jarvis come here? Not because they are former habs, I could care less, but because they came to mind as being available.
Any suggestions?

Red Berenson...oooh HA would love that ;D
I have no names, but IMO, we need another forward with size and strength and a crease clearing d-man to replace Quintal(Yushkevich for just a few months?) would be nice.

I don't think Kyle Mclaren is coming to Montreal. Nor do I think that Hackett and Audette bring back much in the way of a player. Hackett and Markov, maybe, but not 6 million dollars of salary for a pending UFA goalie and a small forward coming off an injury that may have compromised his finishing abilities (playoff performance notwithstanding).
As for the coaches, Red Berenson hasn't expressed any interest in coaching at the pro level and seems perfectly happy at Michigan. Larry Robinson would probably prefer to remain an assistant, and I don't know about Jarvis or Jim Roberts. It seems to me Alain Vigneault is as good a coach as either of those two guys.
The ideal staff, in my opinion, would look something like this:
Head coach: Pat Burns; Paul Maurice; Dave King; or Jacques Martin;
Assistant Fwds: Guy Charron or Dave King
Assistant Def: Larry Robinson
Assistant Goal: Rollie Melancon
We already have three important and quality pieces: Melancon, Charron and Jodoin. We need somebody to take over for MT and Green.

Options are a coaching change, or a trade. You don't do both too closely together. That makes it look like the 1st move was a failure, so now you're trying something else. 3d option is to stand pat and hope the team gets its act together. I'd go for a minor trade/shakeup or a minor call-up, and then hope for the best for the short-term. MT isn't going to get fired so shortly after getting an extension, and trade-wise we can't make big deals at this point - the guys who we'd get value for are the very guys who are keeping us alive right now. Something like Audette or Chow for a youngish grinder-type player might help us and help a team lacking some finish.... we need another guy like Kilger, Asham or Malhotra. (if anyone doesn't see the not-so-subtle dig against AS in THAT.... )

Johnny, Just to be a little more realistic I can't see Markov being part of any trade unless it was a huge deal. You don't trade a young puck moving defenseman unless you getting a young power forward or something similar back. I was looking at players and coaches that are currently available. All the coaches you mentioned are already employed and under contract with other teams.

Let Johnny be..he obviously wants to see Traverse in the lineup on a regular basis Markov ain't going anywhere unless we get the package you mentionned

My ideal staff:
Head coach: Hitchcock or Lemaire
Assistant Fwds: Dave King
Assistant Def: Larry Robinson
Assistant Goal: Rollie Melancon
If this happens, I think the world would be a better place to live in.
To me, this would be like winning the lottery and having as many supermodels hanging off my arms as BadCompany does.

Hypothetically this is the ideal scenario but no thanks.

Then why is Brian Gionta on the top line in NJ with Nieuwendyk?
Didn't he bring Thornton and Samsonov into the B's lineup in 1997-98?
And what about here in MTL? wasn't he our coach when Briser, Schneider and Leclair all came into the lineup?
Viper, you better research your stuff here because we are like sharks ;D

But if a kid is ready to go and take a prime role, why not ? I think he's the guy who brought in Potvin.

yup Potvin is another one.Maybe didn't bring him to the NHL, but Felix became a number 1 goalie with Burns at the helm(after they dealt Grant Fuhr for Andreychuk)
